    Sharp ar507 drum spots

I have two 507 copiers that both machines , the drums have small spot of toner ahered to them and when you wipe off the toner the drum coating is gone. I thought this was a bad drum issue since they arent oem drums they are katun, so I replaced one drum and within 200 copies the spots are back! I did also replaced the cleaning blade. Anyone else ever had this problem?

Not using OEM parts is your problem. Stay away from Katun drums. For the amount of trouble you will have (and are having), you are losing out with return calls to the same machines.

Katun are OK with most other items, just not drums in my past experience.

Look at the bigger picture. How about a nice developer change! (Could be contaminated) Also what kind of toner is being used? First thing I would do is wipe off the drum and really clean the DV unit and put new developer in.

        spots

I will check into dev. change but cleaning the drum does no good cause its ruined. There are like tiny chip all over it the layer on the core is chipped off somehow. so when you clean the toner off you can see the core where the toner was this is why I am a little stumped, I been at this since 1979 and have never seen anything like this

I know I hate using katun drums but thats what my company uses, but I dont think that the drum is at fault in this case since I replaced the drum and the same exact problem came back within 200 copies later,so I am wonderinging what could be putting all these tiny chips in the drum and then the toner gets attracked to the chips

How are you cleaning the toner off? I used to use alcohol, and be careful not to rub too much. You will end up with a green rag and bad drum. As you mentioned damage to the drum. How many copies on the machine? Maybe you should check the DSD collars on the DV unit as well?

              toner clean

It just wipes off w/o any problem, it's not like it is fused in, it's just charged to the core. no problem of it coming off

I have cleaned toner spots off drums and the drums are not ruined. It never speckled the surface. It just comes off and the drum is okay. Are you experiencing something different?

All I can say is that I have never had the experiences you describe, but I have always used Sharp OEM drums.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                  1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                  2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                  3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                  4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.

Be sure and check your DSD collars on the developer unit, they can wear down and get the mag roller to close to the drum, and can ruin a drum quick.
Used to see this on old anlogue machines.

And I agree with every body else, use Sharp supplies, but if they only give you Katun, use it and blame it on managment.
