    Noise from ARM-620

I have got a AR-M 620 with a noisy waste toner system, its been doing this for some time, go out and clean out the waste toner and free it up, noise goes away, few weeks to a couple months go by, noise comes back,
Clean it out again, even change the toner cart, seems like the waste toner is full, in the front of the cart.
After a few times like this, I replace the entire drum unit, figure the latest updates are on it, well couple months pass by, noise comes arround again, yepp, waste toner system, seems like the transport pipe and spring are the cause, like it locked up, clean it all out, re-assemble it, no more noise, but couiple weeks later, noise is back, and of all the 620's out there, this one seems to be the worst one of all for doing this, some I have never had do this.
    Any ideas????

    "AR-621NTA"

Its an old story, lets call it "AR-621NTA".

When the Dragon first came out it used the AR-621NT1 toner cartridge. Then Sharp got the bright idea that there needed to be more toner in the cartridge, so they released the AR-621NTA. The thing that didn't change was the size of the waste reservoir.

I need to give some background here. There is no method of monitoring waste toner volume. The presumption is that there is enough room in the waste reservoir that it won't overfill before the cartridge runs out of toner. It's a false presumption.

So the AR-621NTA cartridge frequently overfills the waste toner, backs up into the cleaning unit, and for the truly unfortunate, breaks brush drive gear 21T (NGERH1549FCZZ) & gear 30T brush drive (NGERH1548FCZZ) in the main drive pack.

There is a whole page of quality adjustments intended to reduce the amount of waste toner, and it works. You give up a certain amount of image density, but it beats backing up cleaning units toward the end of every toner cartridge. If you're interested I'll see if I can track down that list of adjustments.

The best part of this story is how Sharp continued to deny that there was any problem with the AR-621NTA cartridges. That there was nothing to fix.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

From the info I have, the waste toner capacity of the toner cartridge was increased from August 2006 production.

When replacing drum/dev, you MUST reset drum/dev rotation counters as well. Make sure firmware is up-to-date. I know it is a pain in the ass procedure compared to the MX machines, but it definitely fixes alot of issues like this.
Immediately after firmware upgrade, perform half tone laser power & gamma adjustments as detailed on page 11 of intial setup instructions.

Make sure the waste toner pipe and drive gears are smooth and free of toner buildup, as you already know, before firmware upgrade & adjustment.

From the Dragons we have in the field, they all have latest firmware and adjusted after each firmware upgrade. We have never had this issue, but I know it exists.

      Good Luck.
