Customer called this AM with this code and I understand no kind of reset so I just ordered the laser unit from Sharp this afternoon. Should I have tried something else first. I didn't want to waste time if there was a high probability the laser or one of it's components would need to be changed. Frank /ActionPhotocopy

You are spot on Frank. 99.9% of the time, it has a failure in the Polygon Motor assembly in the LSU. Very common on high page count machines. This part will fix the issue straight away. You will hear the new laser speed up nicely on startup compared to the original, which usually sounds abit sluggish or slow. -
Correct. I've only had one or two reset over quite a few years, and it always comes back, usually sooner than later. You saved yourself a recall. If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
