    Sharp ARM350

Part of this may be a repeat. I'm servicing one of these copiers under the Imagistics brand im3510. I ordered the toner for this copier under the Sharp brand and found out that a Sharp toner cartridge and an Imagistics toner cartridge are not the same. I have resolved my problem yet I was wondering are the crum chips on these cartridges available??? I know they sale the devices that I could reset the chip myself but I can't see myself spending that kind of money for one copier.
    Thanks!!!

Does the toner actully fit in the machine? The drum unit has 4 small metal fingers on the back frame side that they use to "key" the toners. All you would have to do is bend them out of the way if it would not fit. As for the crums ive never heard of being able to reset or replace them on that model but i only deal in genuine toners so ive never had the need.

The Sharp cartridge does appear to fit in the Imagistics copier yet there must be some differences because the toner motor was not meshing with the cartridge.

I actully have a imagistics parts book for this model and i checked the reference part# for the coupler and motor and they are the same number in both the Sharp guide and the imagistics guide.

If you put that toner in and the gears did not mesh eventually the machine would of blown the Crum chip up if toner did not get into the DV unit. When TCS calls for toner it activates the toner motor, after X number of rotations and still no change in TCS reading, the machine gives up and blows the Crum chip and asks for a new toner.

The only thing i can think of is the imagistics firmware is seeing a Sharp toner CRUM and not willing to use it. I wonder if you could remove the imagistics ROMs and put in Sharp ARM450 ROMs. I bet it would work.

That's what I had to do in order to get the copier to recognize the toner cartridge. However several days later customer called concerning a noise which reminded me of the noises associated with a bind in toner hoppers causing the toner motor to make a grinding noise. So I had to transfer toner from sharp cartridge to imagistics cartridge. Took care of noise trouble yet the crum chip timed out shortly there after.
          Thanks!!!
