    MX-2600 Help!

By mistake I enabled 27-1, FSS function, Now the machine wants to communicate with the outside world and places a nice message in the display saying so. Once enabled it will stay enabled, cant return to disable, manual says so.
    How do I disable it?
I believe FSS allows serial communication with some non sharp peripheral

Where is this setting stored? seems to be affiliated with the fax portion.
I'm going to reflash firmware this week, I guess we will see.
Their has to be a way, Just havent learned it yet!
    Anyone?

    Do you mean MX2600N?

Go back into sim 27-01, change 1 (detection), back to 0 (non detection). Restart and you should be OK.

      It dont work like that!
I wouldnt recommend testing your theory on your machine.
Once enabled, it will stay enabled, cannot return to disable.
      Machine wont let you.

Can't seem to find any further info on this to help you.
Without a device clone performed prior to you making this system change, I cant see how it can be reset back. Good luck.

Actually it is 27-7 that was enabled wont allow me to return to disable.
          Sorry for any confusion.
Did a reflash to latests firmware with no change.
Tried several varibles within sim 27 with no difference.
Still looking for info on exactly what FSS function "is" and "does" Info is very limited.
Does not effect copier operation, just a message saying service
support tool is not configured correctly. Press OK its gone for a few minutes.

              .

Might be able to re-initialize the ICU and get it back to factory.....just make sure you have your scan/print info backed up.

Graybeard is right. If you dont have a Device Clone file prior to making the change, a factory default might get you back on track.

Either log in as Admin, go to Storing/Calling system settings. Restore to Factory Default.
Or, enter extended simulation mode, try either sim 80-09 Initial Data Setting, 89-02 system settings data clear or sim 88 memory clear.

I wouldnt be touching any of this without a device clone performed first. Its a risk. I've never needed to reset that function at all, so dont know if any of this will even work.

Otherwise, if you have a spare MFP board lying around, replace it and see if it clears.

Yep, Run a 22-6 print. Back door into Sim 89, backup everything on its own HD and my thumb drive, revert the machine to default settings "memory clear", Refeed critical system settings used off of 22-6, run it threw color cal and set up process etc.
If all fails I can at least import my saved DAT files and bring it back to where I am now and take another aproach.
Problem is, where is 27-7 settings stored, ICU, PCU, MFP? I would like to target only this location, not the entire machine settings.
                  Oh what fun!
Kids, Dont try this at home!

Before I did all that, I would reset the destination code, cycle power and set back to proper destination.

Already tried changing destination, No go. Same problem.
I also removed the fax unit with no change.

I ended up doing a full memory clear.
Could'nt reimport my saved data for eeprom, PCU, MCU or SCU.
Importing saved data just brought back the original problem of 27-7 on.
Cleared the PCU 1st with no change, SCU 2nd with no change, skipped doing the MCU as I had already cleared the others and MCU was the last.
Just did the all clear. I do beleive the setting resides on the MCU, my luck.

Machine is/was new and had 1700 total copies and currently is not networked. Clearing memory erases meter counts, dv settings and drum rotations and a host of other things but does not erase the serial number.
                      Machine reverts to defaults.

The meters, DV settings, drum rotations were reinput.
                      22-6 printout helped
Ran it threw color calibrations and updated firmware.
Activated postscript which I have been postponing due to this memory clear thing. Machine works great but I'm sure their is something that may have been overlooked, wait and see.
                      What a pain!
