When you go up to the machine, nothing on the operation panel appears to work. The touch screen, the # pad, nothing. I cannot get into system settings, but I can get into sim codes. I go into Sim 65 and the buttons and touch screen works. I adjusted adjusted the touch screen and flashed firmware and it still does not work. I will be going back this afternoon to work on it, if anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them. Thanks in advance.

I had a MX5500 do that couple a years ago, for me it was the display itself. Wasnt the display driver, wasnt the display controller, just the display touch panel. -

Had exactly the same case on a MX7000N a few years back. The touch panel seemed to be dead (but displaying OK), the numeric pad was not working, but entering Simulation was OK.
After checking all cables inside the Op Panel, I must have been leaning on the numeric pad while talking to the client, because all of a sudden it beeped and a number appeared on the copy screen.
It turned out to be that the client had adjusted the Key Operation Setting in Admin System Settings/Operation Settings. They had changed the 0.0 second response time for Operation Panel touch to 2.0 seconds. This means that all keys and everything on the touch screen needs to be held down for a full 2 seconds for it to activate.
Log in as Admin, go to System Settings, Operation Settings and check the Key Operation setting is set for 0.0 seconds.
0.0 seconds is the regular default setting we are all used to... Meaning the exact second anything is touched it will work.Comment

Probably not going to be the MFP board. The op panel is usually controlled by the scan board. I've had a few MX machines over the years which had op panels completely freezing & locking up 30 seconds after bootup. The problem was not memory or MFP related. The problem was always the scan board. The op panel & scan board are directly connected. I realise your problem is slightly different to this case as you can still enter Simulation. I've only ever had the one case exactly the same as what you are saying, and it was Key Op setting. (crazy onsite IT person trying to extend the op panel timeout setting, but changed key setting instead).
If my suggestion of the key operation setting is on 0.0 seconds on your machine, my next bet would be the scan board.Comment

Haha.... sweet job brother!! I thought I'd never see that problem again. Your post made me think of that one and only time I've seen someone change that Key Op setting.Comment
