    ARC use driver issue

a customer is having trouble with an ARC 260, its connected via USe to a PC (running XP pro). the issue is when ever the machine is turned on it does the auto detect and install with the drivers so it keeps reinstalling them and the dlient ends up with half a dozen drivers all saved for the one machine. anyone have thoughts on why this keeps heppening?

    thanks
    Nick

Does the customer consistently use the same USB port? If they choose a different port the printer will not be recognized and yes, create another driver.

That would end when you had one driver for each USB port. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Ive seen this before with HP laser printers.

This happens when the driver is not FULLY installed, and on each bootup, the connected PC wants to finish the install.

I'd fully remove the current driver, restart the PC with the printer DISCONNECTED, install the latest version driver using the Setup icon (not the add printer wizard), then when it is finished, connect the USB port and let it finish the install as it needs.

Yeah, I haven't seen it on a Sharp before, mainly because I cant remember one being connected to USB. But it is exactly the same situation and symptom as other printers on USB, that haven't had the driver fully installed, yet work perfectly fine.

A new, fresh, full driver install will fix this.

ok thanks guys i shall give it a try reinstalling the driver. it just had me wondering because not many of our customers use the USB function when there is network.
