    Sharp MX-3501N maintenance code.

    Hey guys,

I have this Sharp MX-3501N displaying the following message:

    Maintenance required. Code: FK3

I tried resetting the maintenance count via sim 24-4, but this apparently isn't what the machine is looking for. Any ideas? What does code FK3 refer to? I don't normally work on Sharps, but we're kinda stuck with this one. I'd appreciate any help offered.

    Thanks...
But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.

FK3 means Fusing web print counter reaches 150,000 sheets.
And clear all 3 Fuser web counters in SIM 24-4

Thanks for the reply. I cleared the "Maintenance All" counter in sim 24-4, do I need to clear the fuser web counters specifically? I'm currently looking into ordering a fuser web cleaning kit, are these fused?
But I'm trying, Ringo. I'm trying real hard... to be the Shepherd.

Yes, you have to clear in 24-4 "Fuser Web send", "Fuser Web" and "Fuser Web day".
The Fuser web kit is not fused.

When you clear the fuser web counts in 24-04, also reset fuser E counts, as this refers to the sub-heater unit, which comes in the web kit (or order NROLR1576FCZ2 and rebuild the original web unit).

Rollers on this unit go 300k, web is 150k. You can order the entire fuser MX450FU1 (north america) unit cheaper than to rebuild it so we just replace the entire fuser at 300k instead of rebuilding it.

150k - web and sub heat roller
300k - replace fuser which has all new parts including web.
              Repeat
Evil will always triumph because good is dumb.

No harm done, but you should not have cleared the Maintenance All counter. Just keep in the back of you memory that you cleared it. For me, the main value for the Maintenance All is sort of a notice that the 300K service is due. Only a minor issue as the drum, ITB, heat roller etc maintenance counters will still pop up (unless you cleared them also).
