Sharp MX-5500n Jamming 3 hole punch.

I am new to the sharp line so bare with me. The machine has a little over 10,000 impressions and it jams in the 3 hole punch all the time I adjusted the hole puch with the sim code and added some mylar guides but it did not help. Someone told me that it may need a firmeware upgrade. Can someone send me the lastest firmware. It has not been updated for 2 years. techjay@gmail.com.
If it is too big I will give you my ftp site.

    Thanks for this great site.

Jay, there was a firmware update that kept the punch unit from over rotating. After a punch, the punches would go up, then start coming down blocking the paper path. Are you a Sharp dealer ? You really need knowledge of the machines etc & if it has a data security kit to know what firmware version you need.
    Hope that helps !

Thanks I have been working in this industry for over 20 years. Just started to pick up some more machines beacuse things are very slow. We have more accounts but less printing and less service calls. Do you know how I can get the firmware for this machine. It looks pretty easy to do.

      Thanks

        Tony is spot-on as usual.

The punch operation of the 2/3 hole punching unit (MXPNX2B) may overrun and stop beyond its home position when the punching motor stops after the two-hole punching operation only.
When this error occurs, the tip of the punch sticks out to the path slightly and touches the next sheet of paper. Therefore, a FED_N jam may occur.

The punch operation of the two-hole (A), four-hole (C) and four-hole wide (D) units do not stick out to the path, even if they overrun their home positions when the punching motor stops therefore, a FED_N jam is not experienced.

The finisher firmware should be 0104D0 (if you have the FNX3 or FNX4) and the saddle firmware should be 0102D0 (if you have the FNX4).

Whats your email?..... its only a small file. Sending you the engine firmware is a problem, because it is quite big. Ideally, everything should be upgraded together, but just to fix this issue, I can send you the finisher firmware only.
