    Buying sharp AR-M207

    Hi,
If someone here is using Sharp's AR-M207, could you please give me your feedback on its colour scanning and OCR features. How useful have these features been for you? How is the quality of scanning and OCR been - poor, satisfactory or good?

Also, any positives and negatives that you have found in this machine?

We plan to buy the machine, so your valuable advice will be much appreciated.

    Thank You!

Scanning on these machines is not the best. Is it good for one or two page text documents yes. Pics not so much. Whe you try to get good quality out of the scanner it is really really slow. It is better to step up to the new c-frontier series from sharp.

I doubt that a machine of this age can OCR. It's not mentioned in the specs. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

It uses Sharpdesk so there is an OCR program included with it. Color and monochrome scanning but the color scan as mentioned above is slow and the files are large. Defaulted to B/W it seems to scan okay. We only have a few of these machines and are fairly light duty but seem to hold up okay. I think this is the 5th or 6st generation of the chasis so it doesn't have too many problems that haven't already been seen.

If you are getting this used or refurbished make sure to get all of the software with it. Sharpdesk is not availible for download unless you are a dealership or have access to their IDNC service site.

I guess we will have to compromise with colour scanning...

Thank you all for your feedback, that will surely help...!!!
