MX-C311 DF Issue SPPD1_N Jam Code

DF constantly jamming throwing up SPPD1_N jam code. Unit is fairly new.

When sheets are loaded in the DF ( Say 5 sheets) first two will sail through and then machine will throw up jam and the third hasn't even been picked up.

I have replaced the sensor RSPF (0PZ0000159090) and the frontier sensor(0PZ0200041060) and the problem is still there.

    Any ideas/help would be fantastic.

Does the pickup roller even come down to the paper?

I had that error code before but mine was a little differnt. I'd put 5 sheets in and it would feed all 5 sheets. Then it would try to pickup another sheet that was not present as the paper detect sensor was not working right. Went to the parts book and the sensor could not be ordered. Had to get the entire feed assembly. My copier was still under warranty so i just replaced the entire dam thing. It was only 250 bucks or so.

That document feeder is not ment to be pulled apart. Don't take that top cover off which includes the tray unless you have lots of time to be frustrated. I had a hell of a time getting that back on. He hinges keep falling off when you try to line things up.

I had a similar problem and as the previous post stated, you cannot take apart the middle engine section. I replaced the engine section and have not had a problem since. Everything is disposable nowadays.

Also, there is a sensor which detects the adf is closed. It sits in the front, left corner. The hinges on this model are designed to only open to 45 degrees. If they open it more then this, the hinges become bent. The act of the paper sliding over the glass can trip the adf closed sensor. Hope it helps.

You can try to get away with soaking the feed assy bearings with alcohol. The oils /lube in there causes the 1 way bearing to slip.Don't take it apart thought. The bearings are tiny and non magnetic(I found out the hard way) so good luck reassemling once it falls apart. You're better off like Lawrence said and just replace the feed assy.

I agree. If you have SPPD1 jams, with nothing obviously blocking the paper path, and everything seems to rotate/work as designed, there is a really good chance the problem is grease contamination in the ball bearing section of the pickup roller assy. I've seen it a few times now. Even on machines with only a few hundred on the ADF counter.

Carry a MX-C31DF kit in your car stock. Its the ADF separation pad & PF roller assy. The specs state 100K life on these components, but I doubt that big-time! Ours are not lasting.

                    Hi,
there is a Tech. Bullettin for a similar problem on C-Frontier RSPF.
It's for a SPPD1_S jam error but perhaps It can help you.
Take a look to the attach file.

                    Good luck!

Re: MX-C311 DF Issue SPPD1_N Jam Code

I know it's an old thread but I still need help. I am having these same issue but on two different machines and I have tried all the steps with the feeder except replacing the entire thing. Just wondering if anyone knows if the sharp DSPF on the mx-4501 and the mx-6201 are the same?
