MXC311 scanner seems to read black as green in color mode

A little history on this machine. When we received this machine it had been damaged in shipment. It had apparently fallen over sometime after being put in the box and the whole scanner section had been shifted about a quarter inch to the left. We replaced the broken panels and straightened it so the damage wasn't noticable and put it on the floor as a demo machine only. (Obviously we couldn't sell it. ) It was then sent out as a demo for a few days and the customer loved it. They must have, they put about 800 copies on it. It only has now about 900 on it, split about equal between b/w and color.

Now to the present day. Right after getting it back from the demo, we took it out as a loaner. The first problem was now it wouldn't come ready. I figured it was just something our new tech did to it, so I went out to check it out. When I got there I turned it on and it came ready right away and made great black copies. Then I hit the color button with the same black original on the glass. Almost all the black areas came out green. Color self prints are perfect. But if you try to copy anything in color it is definately scanning toward the green side, Whether the original is in color or not. Obviously I have a scanner problem, but I'm not sure where to start. With the damage it came in with, I could understand if it just didn't work at all, but what would make it switch to green?. Help please.
I know I should be ashamed of myself. Strangely though, I am not.

Something new. Updated firmware which didn't seem to do anything. Unplugged and reconnected the connectors I could get to on the scanner board and now the blacks seem to be good but grays are now purple.

Try running 46-24 and auto calibrate the copy section only. Should of RMA'ed that one i think.

We recently had the same box damage to a MXC381. Very poor copies, but prints were perfect. Had one of the workshop guys change over the whole scanner assy due to obvious frame shift/damage and it was fine afterwards. The frame is very weak and any heavy drop/box damage causes this.
I agree with Lawrence... should have been a warranty job.

Strip it for parts or replace the whole scanner.

I thought I'd try to warranty the board and if that doesn't work then spend the money on the scanner. Thanks for the input guys.

Any damaged goods you receive should have photos taken of the box before opening, and more photos of the machine inside, plus samples if you decide to run the machine up. Thats your proof for warranty jobs.

I'd say the scanner is so far out of alignment, the internal CCD is not straight or damaged and causing a major color shift. Not worth your time mucking around with. The whole scanner unit on the Frontier's come as one whole unit. Its relatively easy to replace I've been told by the workshop guys. That will definitely fix the issue.

I remember one of the other offices saying they had a few machines get damaged because they place all the supplies ontop when they are packed into the box. Apparently the weight ontop and bouncing around in a truck can some times damage the machine. There was no evidence of outside damage at all.
