    Distinctive Ring

Machine is an MX-C311. No problem setting the fax for distinctive ring - except - there are 6 patterns to choose from. Since the phone company configured it for 2 short rings, I asked Sharp which of the 6 patterns available in the fax configuration woulod work. Their answer - do not know, try each of the 6 till you get the right one.

Turns out I was lucky, pattern 1 worked. My question is - any of you have a list of what the 6 patterns are? I have the 4 from Canon, (and their #1 is same as Sharp - 2 short rings) but cannot find the Sharp list - even from tech support.

Not a big deal, but "try them all" just does not seem professional to me.

The FO-DC535 doesn't have 6 options, but this Operators Manual should be similar.

If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Thanks Blackcat - it helps. Kind of interesting as patterns 1-3 are the same as Canon. Perhaps it is a standard of some kind. Anyways, what you gave me is helpful.
