I installed a used Sharp MX-M450N about 2 months ago. After a couple visits of not seeing the light copies they were complaining about, I saw them yesterday. The machine has new, supplies from a working machine with no problems, replaced when the problems started. I stopped a copy on the drum to see that there was only a light amount of toner on the latent image on the drum. The machine prints fine, so copying is when it messes up. If I change the exposure setting SIM 46-2 AE to 90, then it makes an okay copy. Still a little light though. After talking to a coworker, he said to change the exposure to manual and try a copy. It made a perfect copy.
So I figured the AE sensor was bad. I switched the entire scanner top from another MX-M450N and the problem was still there. Right now, the AE setting is maxed in the key op codes and in SIM 46-2 and it makes a good copy, but Im afraid that it will start to lighten up again. I was told I could change the default exposure from Automatic to Manual. That would work, but I didnt see it anywhere. This seems very weird to me so any suggestions would be appreciated.
