wow I feel stupid (how to replace staples fn10)

I feel really stupid for having to ask this but how in the world do you change the staples in an mx-fn10 finisher? I found where you can replace the saddle stitch staple cart. but the normal staple cart. is not at the home position where you can access it through the hole in the finisher, and there is no turn knob to get it there. There looks to be a spot where the knob should be but it is not there.....any help on this one?? THANKS!!!

The home position is actually at the back of the unit..... go figure.

That means the staple unit only comes to the front loading position when it is actually empty.

Its not like the FN7's or FNX2's where you can turn the knob to bring the staple unit to the front. It will only come up to the front loading position automatically when its due for staples to be replaced.

The area you are talking about where a knob should be, sounds like the hole for the punch unit rotation knob. If you dont have the punch unit installed, its just an area which looks like a turning knob should be there.

Basically, dont worry about it. The staple unit will come up when it needs to.
You could run sim motor test (FSSM from memory) and stop the test once the staple unit is at the front, but thats just over-riding the design (and she aint a pretty design to begin with huh??).

Wazza, will it come up if it jams too? Or if it jams do you have to disassemble it?

By the way, love the picture.
I know I should be ashamed of myself. Strangely though, I am not.

Luckily enough, I havent come across a FN10 that has had an upper staple unit jam yet, but am hoping that the finisher would bring the staple unit to the front when it detects a staple jam code. Haven't looked into that yet. Will do that soon.
But, you are right, if it doesn't bring the staple unit to the front loading position if a staple unit jam occurs, its going to be front cover off...... yet again......

The picture is how I feel when I go to work each day
