[Error Code] Sharp AR 407 - error code F9-00

    HI all,

We have a printer problem :
Sharp AR 407, used within a network, shows error code F9-00 (possible after installing updates at Windows 2003 Server).
Ping is ok, printing with parallel cable from laptop works, but no more printing possible from the server or any other pc within this network (even after resetting IP addess).

    Any ideas / hints ?

Anwers and suggestions welcome at any time.
    Thanks so much.

The most common mistake on Cougars is to have the SCSI cable connected to the wrong SCSI port or not having that port switched On. If I remember correctly, in sim 26 you'll find a place to enable/disable each SCSI port. They're labelled A & B.

There also is an extremely high failure rate of those print cards. If you can find one, it won't be cheap.

    More in a minute. I'm searching.... =^..^=

Only one additional recollection. It was common to have the print card lock up or "F9-00". Most of the time the print card will reset. You must disconnect the network cable, run sim 14 (reset), exit service mode, power Off/On, once the machine has completely booted up (~3 minutes) reconnect the network cable.

I seem to recall print settings of 'lpr' and 'RAW'. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

If it was after an update check the port settings on the driver and make sure they were not updated as well. The lpr setting default is "lp" or you can use RAW port 10001. I have used both if I remember correctly (actually had to use port 10001 recently on a Windows 7 machine to get it to print). If the RAW port is set to 9100 it will not print but that would not explain the F9-00 code which is for not detecting the network signal. Get a laptop with a crossover cable and try to print that way. There is a factory reset for the NIC card (change a couple of jumper settings, cycle machine, restore initial jumper position), let me know if you need that I have it somewhere or if you have access to Sharp tech web site it will be under the NIC for this machine. I believe it was the ARNC1D with the ARPB2 print controller. Have had these cards as blackcat mentioned mess up quite a bit but the factory reset seemed to work for the most part..

        Good luck.

          Will try ...

Thank you all for the interesting posts!! Will try to get that machine working and get back to you then; the company has terminated the service contract due to the age of the printer ... - well, lets see what I can do. Thanks again and have a nice day.

            HI
about F9-00, chek, like blackcat4866 said, the scsi port, configuration and conection cable.

            good look
