[Error Code] MXC311 fax error code

We have an MXC311 with a fax kit which is according to the customer showing (error code fail 19(0015)) when receiving faxes. I have found the report codes in the SM and don't have any idea what it says. Any chance someone can explain in english what these mean? Thanks for any help. I'd like to have some idea what to do before I drive 120 miles to the machine.
I know I should be ashamed of myself. Strangely though, I am not.

Try giving your customer a call, and ask them to look at the fax line.Does it have 2 or 4 pins.It needs to be 2 because the MXFXX3 in an analog device. They more often than not cause excess interference and line noise causing it to drop. This is why Sharp ships the with a 2 pin line from the factory.I make extra long line by using standard phone lnes stripping them and cutting the 2 outside wires using only the 2 center wires. Then insert into the connector and crimp.I've made 40 to 45' cables w/no functional issues.Sharp relased a tect tip on using the proper line.HP also requires a 2 pin line as well. Look at TT-20165,on INDC.

Its a receiving error, 'In V.34 mode, time up is generated when shifting from Primary to Control'.

You'd probably need to diagnose if the error is just occuring when receiving from one particular number, or happening every time.
I'm thinking either a handshaking error or some sort of time-out/line drop problem.

In the US, do you have a fax send/receive test number to use like we do here?

We had that happen here to a customer 125 to 150 mile away in Massachusetts,I made them a 40 or so ft. line with only two wires inserted in the connector and mailed it priority mail the customer called the next afternoon thanking me.Never an issue since, and more often than not it interferes more on incoming than outgoing faxes.

            You're a Genius!

We never have problems like that here. I've seen clients use old & busted cables they have pulled from the dark ages and you still get perfect signal strength. Must be a US phone line thing. I say go for it!

Thanks for all the responses. Our South Dakota tech saw the post and called to tell me pretty much the same things. Didn't think to ask him. Duh. The customer says it only does it in receive and now is doing it constantly. I'll make the trip tomorrow and post an update. Thanks again.

We have a real problem out here with phone lines and Sharp faxes. The phone system data rate is 28K for a lot of rural areas with noise and for some reason the Sharps do not like this. We slow the machine down during setup and have a lot fewer problems. Also customers upgrade to DSL and forget to put a filter on there fax lines. Funny thing is you can hook up a cheap HP or Brother and they have no problem!!!!

                  Good luck.

I tried all of the above and it works now. I don't know which one fixed it but it works. Thanks for the response.
