More honest to use a gun and a mask - LSU Cleaning pad

Dealer cost (depending on your status/contract) >$6 for one (1) LSU Cleaning Unit/Base. Yes it has been this way for some time now, just rubbing me sore. Anyone know of an alternate source?

Well thats what I thought of as I read this.

I hardly replace them anyway, they tend to last pretty well unless there has been a major spill inside.

I've you're replacing them that frequently, there are some other issues that need addressing. Compared to some of the Toshiba's, you could eat off of an MX laser unit.
        Hope that helps !

Interesting. Our our MX-5500/6200 customers that do their every other week cleaning go through them fairly often. I do the one in our store and after 2-3 cleanings it has so much crap on the pad it needs to be replaced. Maybe part of the difference is if you only use them when a problem starts showing - we do it as PM. Actually there seems to be an issue with in the back of Cyan.

Anyways - do any of you have a lower cost source than Sharp?

These cleaning pads do actually clean up OK and can be reused many times.
If you wipe them quite roughly, I'd say 80-90% of the contamination comes out and the pad is quite good to reuse.

The whole purpose of them is just to clean the laser glass, so unless there is major toner contamination through the inside of the machine, they last forever.

If your machine requires constant cleaning, I'd be taking the drum units, devs, belt unit & shutters and giving the whole inside a good clean. Excess toner contamination in that area usually comes from a past worn drum that has pulled toner & dev into the rear frame. Just changing the drum or drum unit over has left all the toner buildup inside, so machine vibration & use causes it to fall straight down onto the laser.

Thanks again Wazza. We have never tried to clean the pads but will give it a go. We also have not been cleaning the back inside during our color maintenance so the cleaning the shutters and backside are other good ideas.

I appreciate all the input and will try Wazza's suggestions. Thanks and we can consider this subject resolved.

I just blow them off with canned air or vacuum them. Works pretty good. In answer to your original question, I don't know where to get them.
I know I should be ashamed of myself. Strangely though, I am not.
