    [Misc] MX-2310U

I have purchasaed a new 2310U last week and I have a problem connecting USB drives for scanning purposes. I have tried varioius HardDrives and USB thumbnails with various length USB cables. I get one of two problems occuring every time.
    1. The drive connects or rather appears on the screen as connected but every time I try to scan to that I get the message "Error writing (or its it accessing) to USB device) OR
    2. No USB connected device appears on the screen

Does anyone have any suggestions. Also does it matter if I use Fat32 or NTFS for formatting the device. (Is there somne way of formatting it from the actual machine...is that my problem?)

I'm stuck and the whole purpsoe of buying the machine was so that I could scan thousands of mulitiple page files to an USB external device!!!

    Thanks for any suggestions

You need the optional PCL kit installed for anything associated with the USB port.

    MXPB14 - PCL kit.

If your USB stick is also security partitioned, the machine will ignore it and not work.

I think direct scanning to the USB port should be OK actually, its more the direct USB print.
Also, go into system settings and check the USB compatibility section. If its listed there when its installed, then it should work.

USB stick must be 32Gb or less.

      Thank you
I believe that the kit MXPB14 - PCL is installed.
I have tried all sorts of USB drives from 4MB up to 1 Terrabyte. When I plug in the 1 Terrabyte its says recognised but cant write to it.
In the Systems Settings it says "USB Device Use Internal Driver"
Is there something on the machine that needs to get activated?
I have a bunch of Cds and though the printer works beautifully and so does scanning to the machines on the network- the scanning to the USB device is not......
The USB 1 TB harddrive has its own power source......
      Thanks again

Do the 32Gb & below drives work?
Theres no way anything above 32Gb will work, as per the specs.

Do you have user authentication activated? If this is on, check that you have permissions to use USB scanning. If you have no pin number access to the machine, check that USB scanning is enabled in device control of system settings.
