    [CQ] problems with mx2700n

    Hi to all

    I heave problem with MX2700N. Everything that is printed on this machine looks somewhat washed out. To be exact machine doesn't output any color at 100%coverage.
    If there are small boxes filed with cmyk, each one of them is going to heave small dots or streaks of less color.

    above is self test print from unit. Developers are new and transfer belt is new. I heave checked drum units and they are ok.

    same problem i heave on other unit at different location.

    Any idea is welcomed.

    Is it smearing on your sim 46-24 print when you do a color calibration?

      Viewing this image at full size, shows that Magenta & Yellow are not too bad, but Black & Cyan are faint.

      If you have new devs & transfer belt, run 44-27 to clear the halftone settings, restart the machine then run 44-06, 44-26, 46-24 and 67-24 in that order. That will bring it back up to normal.

      Is the transfer belt a new UNIT or a rebuilt kit? If its a rebuild kit, was the transfer rollers thoroughly cleaned or replaced? Dirty transfer rollers will drastically affect toner density on transfer.
      Also, check that someone has not changed the print density settings in system settings and toner save modes are not on.

        Same image problem is when unit prints calibration sheets in calibration (46-24).

        @wazza
        I did full calibration of device (copy and print). But problem is still there. this lack of coverage is noticeable when customer prints something in red color. Then those patches where toner is missing are really visible. The print that i heave attached is from machine service mode. Transfer unit is new from B1 kit (replaced it for test but got same result). When i was replacing transfer belt i heave checked rollers for each color and they were clean.

              Yes, but thats pretty rare. If you are getting a sample page like above, I doubt its going to be a bad HV/MC board problem. It shows the board is working. My experience with a problem HV/MC board is either going to show nothing at all on the page, process control errors on the display, or completely missing one or more colors.

              Have you checked DV & GB voltages as per the service manual? When you changed developer, did you run 25-02 correctly (and twice)? What are the values of 25-01 dev stir after it finishes its cycle? Are you using a good quality paper? Are the optics thoroughly cleaned (scanning in adjustment pages etc etc)? Have you run the process control calibration jig in 44-13? Have you run the SIT chart adjustment in 63-03 to calibrate the scanner for correct processing of your adjustment pages?

              If all of that is OK, and you are sure the drums, MC units, devs, transfer belt unit are all in good/excellent condition, reset all color calibration settings and start fresh. Run a 63-08 and 67-28 to reset the service targets, then start a normal calibration procedure from the beginning.
