    [Error Code] MX-M550 ARF15

F1-03 Code. Service manual says its an oscillation motor error. Can't seem to find the oscillation motor! Can't run any motors in TC3-3 without the error coming up. All sensors test fine. Top bin moves to top and stays there. Anyone seen this? Ordered control PWB.

Check the oscilating unit encoding sensor is working. That detects that the unit is rotating. If it fails to detect, that code will show.

Check that the top output tray is not bent, causing it to read an incorrect upper position.

I can't seem to find the oscilating unit encoding sensor. It's not called that in the parts book or anywhere else in the Service Manual. Oscillate:
a : to swing backward and forward like a pendulum b : to move or travel back and forth between two points. M8 runs the shutter and I've cleaned the oneway bearing. M2 runs the exit gate drive and it can be manually rotated. No binding in either of these. Top output tray is straight, HP and upper limit switches good.
I did find a reference to F1-03 on Sharpnet and it refers to the exit gate binding.
      Thanks for the reply wazza.

F1-02 is a common code, but I dont think its related to your F1-03 code. There is plenty of info on F1-02. That is mostly to do with the output tray upper switch.

The control PWB fixed the finisher problem. Now another problem has appeared. MXM550 won't turn on. Turn on both switches enough times and it comes up.
This is in a school and the power is questionable. Ordered the MFP PWB.

Well, you could be on the right track with the MFP, as I've seen similar irregular power/bootup problems caused by either a faulty MFP or memory located on the MFP, although not yet on a Dragon2.

Have you checked the power supply and power boards in the machine? Was this problem there before you changed the finisher control pwb? Have you tried disconnecting the finisher and trying to boot machine up without options fitted?

Possible MFP, but more leaning towards ac/dc boards or power supply to machine.

The not booting up problem has been there for months but I never could duplicate it. Still happens with the finisher disconnected. Flip both switches and it eventually turns on. Have tried a sub power supply for this issue with no change.

Replaced the MFP Control PWB. Problem solved.
