AR-M237 copy, print, scan numbers don't add up to total count

This one may seem simple to some of you but I haven't figured it out. If you hold down the "copy" button to get a total count, that number doesn't seem to add up in any combination of the counts found in the break down of copy, print, scan, other, etc found in a sim 22-1 or 22-6 or under the Custom Settings/total count. The Total count found in sim 22-6 & 22-1 agrees with the number found while holding down the Copy button. Is this related to the number of clicks generated when copying or printing onto ledger size paper? This question isn't just directed at this specific machine, I am just using it as an example. I have seen it on other Sharp Imagers but never gave it much thought. Any help would be appreciated.

I don't remember if this is so on Sharp machines, but on Kyocera products any prints made while in service mode are not included in the total count. Neither are the various reports. Perhaps that could account for a few. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

That count won't include scans, it's only output pages. And for each ledger sheet you'll have to count that as 2 pages. The total should be copies + prints + other (counting each ledger page twice) Look at your tray counts and add those up and it should be equal to the total count when you hold the copy button down.

Copies made in service mode should be included in the "other" count. Though on thinking about it more you may be right, it's been quite a while since I've tested this.

On alot of those smaller machines, holding the copy button down will give you only the COPY counter, not the total of all copies, prints, fax outputs & other all added up together. You need to always check the total counters in service mode or print off the counter page. I've always known that holding the copy button down on any AR or ARM series machine will only show COPY counts. I was told years ago this was because printing & faxing were options on many machines (which is true) and the copy button only showed the COPY count, not the TOTAL count.
All new machines, like MX color & MXM mono are OK. You can hold the copy button and see the TOTAL counters.

Well, on second thought, maybe this question should have been directed to this specific machine. I dug out the printouts from a number of similar machines. The Copy+prints+others=Total on all of the reports that I pulled. These were all 2 tray machines. (The tray count totals including bypass did not add up to the total.) The machine in my example was the only one that had 3 trays with the third holding 11x17. It had a Total count of 162,651 - found by holding down the Copy button, on the Count screen, and in service mode. COPY(114650) + PRINTER (29669) + OTHERS (208) = 144,527. So far, this machine is the only one that doesn't add up. I'll try to find another machine that uses ledger size paper to see if the numbers are off on it. Ledger size should not a problem since both the copy count and the total count are increased by 2 counts for each sheet. Also, I was able to check another machine to confirm that the total on the service report should equal the total found while holding down the copy button. Now that I know that for most of these machines, the total should be equal to the total copy, prints, and other (report) prints, I'll assume the question is answered.
          Thanks for the replies.

You'll find that the tray counts will never match the total counts, because tray counts are only the amount of pages fed into the machine, not taking into consideration of the page was double sided or not (which would increase the count by 2, but fed only 1 page).
