We dont normally service sharp but my colleague looked at this today, copies very faint. Optics are clean, even a sky shot is coming out almost blank. Is the dev and drum the same on these machines?? Any ideas??
If you are asking if the drum & developer are in the same cartridge, they are not. The drum is separate from the developer unit. You can buy the drum & drum cleaning blade and put them in the existing drum unit or you can get an AR200DR cartridge and change the end cap so it will fit in this model. The AR200DR was intended for the earlier AR160 which were cartridge based machines. The AR-M160 drum was to be replaced by a technician while the AR200DR was made as a customer replaceable unit but only for those early models. The developer has to be dumped out of the DV unit to be changed. I would suggest investing in a manual so you know how to do self-prints, how to check the copy counts on the drum & developer, how to reset those counts, how to adjust the exposure on the new drum, etc.. Did your colleague look at the drum to see if there were worn areas which would indicate the need to replace the drum? The drums don't always make it to 50k copies. Were there any service lights on indicating it was time to service the machine?
the laser slit glass can get clouded with toner mist and cause light prints. it faces down just to left of drum unit
have to remove developer and drum to wipe off. If thats not it can be bad developer, dirty charge unit or transfer wire old
