    mx 2300 colour loss

hi all i have here my fault that iam experiencing on a 2009 plate mx 2300 m/r 77k col 240k black

please see attached pictures taken from my phone

the picture with all the colour is what it should look like
L=lead edge T=trail edge F=front frame side R=rear frame side as it comes out of the machine

and the other picture is whats been reported magenta colour loss then total colour loss front to rear but black is ok

this machine is all up to date firmware/pm using oem parts
fault is reported as copy & print fault (my example is print)

its had so far mx 270u1 (transfer unit primary) and a primary transfer drive clutch
i have removed & checked the main drive for worn gears and the primary transfer clutch drive shaft looks like new

i have seen examples of the fault during a print run where the fault happens on one page and then corrects it self on the next but i can not get it to do the fault when iam on site

    any ideas

It looks like your drums's.They only last for a year or so regardless of the amount of work it has done.Try changing relevant drum or all 3 drums(C,M,Y) and main charge kits ,reset drum counts and do full colour calibration as per service manual.Have seen this problem on low colour use machines.

      check the LSU shutters for binding, if they are good then check the solenoid that opens them on the left side of the machine {there is a plastic rod that connects the shutters to the solenoid}
I have seen the metal bracket that holds the solenoid bend slightly causing dropouts like you are describing, it would run fine for about ten copies then during the run the colors would start to drop out because the bent bracket wasnt allowing the solenoid to keep the shutters open far enough. Good luck!

Like jward said I would check the shutters first. It sounds like it is most likely the problem. Then I would run a half page test and see if there is an image on all of the drums. You could have a voltage problem. Check all of those as well.

I too would start with the shutters. Have you run 25-1 to check the charges in the DV units?

i went about a week ago and blitzed it with some new parts
i dont like doing that as you never know what the cause was
but this fault was so intermittent and i could not get the machine to faultier when i was on site

            so i changed
magenta Process electrode unit (electrical contact that dv/dm units push in to)
            main charge pwb
            transfer charge pwb
i have not been back as yet so hopefully it is fixed
            thanks for your help all
