    Sharp ar-m237/257/277

I have been running into a few issues with this series concerning the shifter motor. I had never really worked on it before, but now I seem to be getting a rash of issues with the plastic in certain areas just crumbling.... not a big deal, UNLESS I need to take the motor off for some reason, which I had to do recently.

I simply CANNOT seem to get the "alignment" right for the motor and the corresponding "arm" that meshes up with the gears. I am sure it is probably fairly simple once you know what you are doing and "get it right", but I have tried just about every position possible, I have pulled other shifter motors out to see where it is lined up, replicated that with the one I need to adjust, and nothing works....

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    THANKS!

A little more detail would be helpful. Which area of the machine are you talking about? Is this a problem with a finisher? (Shifter motor)

Older machines of these models are infamous for having plastic around the fuser area, why it was done is a laughable concept.

Are you able to provide pictures?

Sorry, yeah, NO OTHER options at all, just bare bones AR-M237/257/277 series style shifter motor that is just above the fuser. I went back and tried one last ditch effort by CLOSELY replicating every little nuance between a working shifter motor and the one I have, and I think I got that adjustment right, finally.

Everything works great that was having a problem before, but now I am getting a ppd1_nd2 error when duplexing. So I am starting to troubleshoot that error now. ha

Well good luck with the ppd1. Those can be quite a treat. I'll be around a little while longer if my meager knowledge can be of any assistance. Haha

Yeah, i am trying to figure it out, no luck so far. It is def sensor related... it stops everytime in the same place when duplexing. It seems so simple, but I can't find it just yet

if u have the plastic falling apart like u stated, u need to replace ur first delivery unit, itll cause jams in duplex and simplex, due to missing plastic, warped plastic or the sensor out of place do to the previous

Funny story..... the plastic crumbling I was talking about it was started this problem.... so another tech took the shifter motor out of a brand new 257 in our office to troubleshoot and he took the motor off and hence the issues getting it aligned properly. So everything is NEW on this machine, but either something was knocked loose or not connected properly....etc.

I figured out the issue.... another tech had removed 2 of the white plastic rollers and springs from the shifter motor assembly and it was the rollers/springs that provided pressure, that then provided the drive when duplexing....so that is fixed. However, after testing all day in our office.... it threw another L4-11 (shifter motor) error. So, I probably have to adjust that alignment adjustment a touch more, I guess. Man, that is a TRICKY adjustment!!!
