    Sharp scanning syntax

This is the most unusual scan syntax I have ever seen. I have no problem with ftp and smb connections but the uri is totally foreign to me. I did some searching but not having finding what I need.

    uri:scan/nst@@f=username-FOLDER@h=4061860a4d05

Can somebody break this down for me better so that I can add users easily.

    Thanks for your help !

Not much help but it looks like you are trying to copy the links SharpDesk uses - and it never worked well for me, especially with the older equipment. With the newer MX series I just use direct scan entering \\host\file and user-password. As I said not much help - maybe if you include the model?

On the Mx and AR Models what i have found with the later versions of sharpdesk is that I install the software on each computrer and then all i do is input the i.p. of the copier and change each users User Name to a uniqe name. as long as the i.p of teh copier is correct and you have no firewall restrictions, the file will go directly that particular computer. it is not like Hp and Toshiba where you have to make a shared folder and everyone has full access to that folder and you have to input the network path upon setup.

sharpdesk can be downloaded, at least in the u.k. from the sharp tech site but you will have to purchase licences.

Same in the US. Download is free - but need to purchase a lisc (code) to use it. SharpDesk v3.2 is easily found "in the wild" but will not work with Win7 and I suspect it cannot be purchased now days. 3.3 will work with all version (incl Win7), but you need to use a lisc code from a previous version (they say 3.1 or 3.2, but I have used 3.0 without a problem) or purchase a new lisc. NOTE: 3.3 is rumored to "call home" so, in theory, Big Daddy will know if you are "sharing" the lisc.

So you need sharpdesk to setup scanning to the desktop. Is this a per seat licensing for each desktop, or is it per mfp?

Right now I am just trying to support existing customers on various AR-M and MX series mfp's that are have scanning now. So I assume they have licensing but where do I go to get it? Originally what brought this post up was a customer that got a new win7 pc that replaced a dead one. I lucked out as the pc was incorrectly setup on the wrong network segment along with its IP phone, so there was no way without some routing config it was gonna see the mfp (M350N) in this case. But I will have to go back and get it setup.

So they are an existing user with desktop scanning setup on 4 or 5 other desktops (xp and vista) and working at the moment. Need to setup the new one on win7. Where do I go from here?

Sharps website on this is useless... :-(

Why can they just do SMB???
