    E-studio 161 / AR5316

    Hello,

Customer call that the machine is making noise, I arrive there and he already removed platen glass and was cleaning it, i though to myself wt..., The problem: the moving part of the scanner is moving and pusing against home position and afther of few seconds is going back to the other end and pushing it self against the other end and he countinusly hit at the end. If i restart it does the same thing. We replaced the home position senzor and it does the same. Replaced the main board with a sharp one but they are 2 different versions so it starts but it doesent light the digit panel but is looking like is having an error withe scaner initialization ok. What should i try next?

Do the boards look the same? If so when you replaced the board did you try swapping the ROM over? Maybe it's a toshiba firmware in a sharp board and the panel requires that firmware.

Sounds like a definite MCU problem. I suggest you find one from an exact same model.

            Hello,
If you remove together the platen glass with the white reference plate, the machine cannot measure the white reference signal at power on and gives this problem.
You also have this issue if exposure lamp does not light up when you power on the machine.
            Good luck.

In most Sharp digital copiers, if the white reference plate is removed the scanner unit won't hit the walls. but it would repeatedly move back and forth in its home position for about half an inch.

It does the same thing with or without the white reference. I will try to put the board on another Toshiba machine.

I wanted to test the board before my final answer so i did put it in another customer machine which board was ver 8 but the board with problems did the same thing on another machine so is the board fault. So now customer is shoping for a used board.
