    MX-FN14

I have a strange problem on a new set-up on the MXM623. The stapler works in all positions except for the double staple. The stapler will travel and stop at the rear position but the stapler motor does not fire, then it travels to the front position and it staples fine. The firmware is current and the main PCB for the finisher has been switched with a new board. I have tried TC 3-10 for the center adjustment in both directions with no change.
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated...

    Re: MX-FN14 UPDATE

Got some info from our friend down under, when I get a chance to work on it, I will update with that valuable information.

      Re: MX-FN14 Fix

"If the stapler unit cannot detect where it is located along the rail due to not being able to detect its position (from reading the 3 process stoppers), then you get the situation of the stapler not firing (because it is not sure if its firing into paper or the frame of the process stopper)." I would be regretful if I didn't thank our friend from Australia.

The Rear Alignment Lever was not tripping the position sensor on the stapler unit. The plate that the stapler unit rides on has tabs that fit into slotted holes in the rear frame and has some play, maybe 1.0 to 1.5mm. The quick "fix" was to shim the plate up which allowed the lever to trip the position sensor. A more permanent fix would be to remove the Stapler Mount Assembly and bend the tabs downwards.
I hope this was clear enough to help anyone with a similar trouble.
