Sharp AR-M450

Bad news Dingo. The MFP board in the AR-M450U is not the same as the MFP board in the AR-M450N. The "U" board will not recognize the NIC Card.
The cheap way to go here is to get an inexpensive print server to hook up to the built in parallel port.
The expensive way is to purchase the MFP board for the AR-M450N AR-P14, and Hard Drive AR-HD3.If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Yes, I see you have a lot of questions.
1) The board that you plugged your AR-NC5 card into cannot recognize a NIC card. To make your AR-M450U print you must replace that board (MFP board AR-P14, and add a hard drive AR-HD3, then install your NIC card AR-NC5.
Or you can use an external print server that connects to your parallel port of your existing MFP board AR-P11.
2) The hard drive AR-HD3 is necessary for you to print.
3) The AR-407 can only print in RAW. It cannot print using lpr. I don't know why. Sharp copiers are PCL printers. PostScript can be added at additional cost. Preferred driver is PCL5. The PCL6 driver can have problems printing from certain applications/programs.
I hope that my answers are clear enough. If you'd like a serious answer to your request:

Will not adding the HDD (arhd3) only not work? I have never done it, but when researching, I understood that adding the HDD to the MFP would turn it into the AR-P14. It has been awhile, so I may be mistaken.Comment

copychoiceguy: The AR-P14 is not equal to AR-P11 + AR-HD3
I've replaced a few AR-P14s and it does not come with the hard drive.
There is no network port on the AR-P11.
DINGO: It may work without the hard drive, but the specification sheet specifically states the hard drive is required. I personally have not seen an AR-P14 in a final installation without the hard drive. If you'd like a serious answer to your request:

I am just thankful that I didn't have to use my high school spanish.

Dingo, the older machines (287,337,etc) use RAW port configuration with port name 10001. The newer ARM350/450 can use LPR with queue name 'lp' (case sensitive), or RAW with port name 9100.
Blackcat, the ARP14 kit does not come with an ARNC5J, which is needed for network printing, but it will work without the HD3 although, it is recommended to be installed. The ARP14 kit comes with a set of flash roms and an application number for a product key request. Also, the MFP board is the same for the N/U models, the printer, though has a different control PWB."You can't trust your eyes, if your mind is out of focus" --Comment

Dingo, check your flash roms to see if they are the 'n' version or the 'u' version. Just because you can ping okay does not mean the NIC can talk with the MFP controller. Go to the Key Operator codes and check if the product key for the Network Exspansion is highlighted. This will tell you if the ARP14 option has been installed.
The memory for the M450 is a standard PC133 or PC100 SDRAM DIMM non-ECC which goes on the MFP board. There are two slots , max size is 256MB each.
Good luck..."You can't trust your eyes, if your mind is out of focus" --Comment

1st question - not sure unless it is referencing the parallel port.
2nd question - In order for the 'n' flash roms to work in the 'u' model, a product key must be obtained to unlock that option. It is keyed to the serial number of the MFP and the application number with the ARP14 option.
3dr question - the memory slots are on the same MFP control pwb that the flash roms are located.
4th question - it's basically a toss up, some of the printers work best with LPR and some with RAW. I haven't confirmed it yet but I have been told that RAW is slightly faster on the newer models."You can't trust your eyes, if your mind is out of focus" --Comment
