I had an odd call yesterday I thought would be worth sharing:
MX-M623 with a F1-15 error code,FN15 finisher. Attempted to test the lift motor in simulation and machine locked up. Rebooted and tried again; same result. Rebooted a third time and checked the sensors of the finisher and they went high/low as normal. Went back into load test of the motors, locked up again. I then did the normal things for finisher trays, check the tracks and brackets, upper limit sensor, connector plugs, etc...all were fine. I went and got a cup of coffee and prepared to call tech support. As soon as I described the symptom of locking up during the load test, it was new control board AND the upper tray lift motor. If only the board is replaced, the motor can keep blowing out the board. Luckily, this machine was a new install and still under warranty. I installed the parts today and it worked like a charm. The lock up in service mode is a dead give away.
Hopefully this will help someone in the future.
