    [Error Code] F6-00

Well this one has been haunting me for a few months right now..

Refurbished a Mx2700N a few months back and sent it out to a customer.
It's just your standard 4 draw box with a MxFxx1 from memory.

The machine tested fine in the workshop, no issues.. Sent it out to the customer and it came back with the F6-00 Error.
Thinking it was a faulty Fax Unit, we swapped it out for another one.
Still Didn't fix the problem so we stuck another MFP in it.
This seemed to fix the issue however a few weeks later it started to come back.
Clearing with trouble code 14 it seems to fix it for a few days.. or weeks.. And then it comes back.

It is possible that the second fax unit is faulty as well.. but that would be rare.

Service manuals don't really give much information.
This is a machine built in 2005 as well ..

Not fully understanding what boards talk to what boards on this issue, I've run out of parts to change.. look at.

Any one got advice on this one?

Sorry for the short message.. My brain is fried from 8 hours of this issue

Check your connection on the fax pwb connector CN3 there is a tech tip regarding this. Haven't seen it myself but worth a shot. Always worth reseating all the connectors when you run out of ideas.

    Good luck.

      Yup, re-sat all chips..
Swapped over complete fax units which obviously includes the attached harness, so I'm thinking it is very unlikely the pwb in the mxfxx1
Have not found the tech tip? .. i've searched all bulletins on the sharp site in my country.
Is there somewhere else I should be looking?

I got it from the Sharp-idnc site in the USA but I've found from following this forum that bulletins and tips vary by regions. I don't know why this is but it's very annoying when you are trying to troubleshoot a problem. The tech tip showed that prior to sometime in 2008 the fax units wiring harness wasn't positioned properly inside of the fax units and could cause this issue. What is your ROM version?

Not sure if it will give you this code, but you have to make sure to install the fax memory chip into the mfp pwb. Also i would update the firmware.

Ahh I'm on the other side of the world .. I'll try my work login on the idnc just in case today.. Doubt I will have luck though :S
I am pretty sure I did come across a Tip previously about this.. I thought we tried it, anyway Will pull apart the fax unit and have a look today hopefully.

From memory the connector on the original MFP was loose. however as this has been going on for a few months I'm sure we swapped out MFP's and Fax units.

Firmware is the latest. and of course The memory chip is in.

I'll see what I can find out today. Thanks

I got this code on a Dragon. Upon examination I found the the connector at the fax box had been slammed into a doorway, and busted the connector.

The interface cable was easy enough to change, but the board mount connector took a little bit of finesse. It was one of my better solder jobs. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
              1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
              2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
              3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
              4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
              5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

No Luck today!.. Customer was not open, Got a diff tech going to it on Monday.
All signs seem to point to the Cable at the Fax PWB end ... I have put a note for the tech to look at it and re-seat it ..
                Fingers crossed he does.

We had similar issue on a 3501. Another tech ends up replacing power supply.

                    Hi
At the risk of being simplistic....have you tried a 66-10 Image Memory Clear? That can clear up a number of unusual fax related issues.

                      Just un update..

i never got to go back to see the customer, however I spoke with the Tech who did, and he mentioned he simply cleared the code with crop 14.
                      And it 'fixed' it.

Im sure it will come back in a months time... :S. Hopefully I can get that call.

                      Thanks for everyones help.
