    Sharp mx-6200n issue

Hello everyone. I'm new here. I'm having a problem with a sharp mx-6200n that no one seems to know about.
All of the functions on the printer, as far as i can tell work fine(copy, scan, network etc.) except the print functions.
The machine would print fine what is scanned directly to it's HDD, but prints nothing from any computer, or from a flash drive.
I've tried printing directly connected via usb. Tried via ethernet, to no avail.

One article recommended a firmware update, which i did attemp, only to realise that the firmware was already a later version than the one recommended to solve the problem.

Does anyone know how to deal with this issue?

can you browse to internal web page?

what are you trying to print from usb? does the machine have PS kit?

Can you post screen shot of your printer port settings?

Does the print job leave the local print spooler?

Hello, thanks for responding. The printer is a used printer that we bought on ebay. It came with some test pages in it somewhere, but since it has arrived, it has not printed anything from the computer.
Jobs seems to go the printer and end up in the spool. The status of the oldest job to arrive is "ripping" and when it is selected the option to cancel or delete is not selectable, though the others below it can be canceled.
The jobs are stuck in "spool" and never make it to job queue.
I do not know if it has a PS kit, I try to use the PCL driver since it is listed as the most compatible. I tried printing via directly connected USB to no avail. Also to print via flash drive to no avail, same problem as above.
Interestingly enough, when the job is sent via network, the name of the user on the computer is listed. When attempted from a flash drive, it gets listed as "UNKNOWN USER".

Here are the screenshots of the print port settings (i think).

I tried printing various formats from usb, PDF (created by the machine itself via usb scanning) tiff, ps, jpg none work.

SOrry for the double post but my posts keep disappearing when i try yo edit them.
              to igi:
i can ping and even connect to the printer home page. I cannot print test page, and I use the pcl6 driver, though i've tried the pdd and ps as well to no avail. I think i reach the "furthest" with the pcl 6 driver.

Hmm, i hadn't thought of that. Will it still photocopy though? And scan?
How to i reset the maintenance counter?
I got no message saying due it was due, but i'll still try resetting it.

u can still copy and scan but no print. some of the maint codes will only show up after u hit the image send button for some reason? (at least it would on the 2300 2700 3501 ect.. the 6200 is just the new version of the series) sim 24 will bring up the counter resets sim 22-1 will show the counters

Go to your print folder and right click on Sharp machine, click "Properties" if winxp, click on "Printer Properties" if win7.
Click on "Ports" tab, then click "Configure Port..."
In the resulting window towards the lower left you will see a check box labeled "SNMP Status Enabled" make sure that is not checked.
Apply and OK your way out and try to print.

Even if machine has PM codes, machine will print. You have essentially told the workstation not to listen to any messages the machine (copier) may send to workstation regarding its supply or PM status.

If still no print, go to Print folder and double click sharp to open print queue, click on file and make sure "Use printer offline" is not checked.

^^^this, but my understanding is that if u turn that off ur company will not receive the auto email thing (dont know for sure what its called) but some of our customers have it and it emails us when it needs service automaticaly. select few customers we allow this

SNMP = simple network management protocol

As I understand it the copier is sending out message to let other network devices know that it (the copier) needs a PM or needs something......
The PC receives this message and determines copier/printer is not usable because it needs PM or something

If you disable SNMP on the PC, the PC never hears the message and sends print job regardless of the machines needs........

SNMP is communication between devices on an IP network, this has nothing to do with the machines ability to send an email out via SMTP......and so it goes

                            Hey all.
Disabling use printer offline made the jobs disappear from the queue on the computer, but the same issue remains, the jobs appear on the printer itself, and never get past "ripping".

I looked at the sim's 22 and 21, but I couldn't tell which counters would help, and since it is a used printer I imagine resetting all of the counters is not a good idea.

When we try a "self print" in sim 64, the printer just locks up. That all, just failure, no response no nothing. Does anybody have any idea what that might mean?
The thing is, communication with the printer never seemed to be a problem, since the print jobs would always turn up in the spool, but one would get stuck at ripping and that would be the end of that.

                              Hi,

It's a common issue if the print jobs get stuck in ripping, that however is corrected in firmware ver 01.12.D0 ICU(main). The latest version today is 01.15.D0.

If still no go, remove the MFP PWB and remove the memory flashes and make sure the contact surface is clean.
Preforme a HDD test under sim 66-02 for a quick test or 66-03 for a full test (takes a loooong time).

Also check that user account in not activated.
