    [Electrical] sharp ar-m350 spf motor

having a random feed problem. the adf will work fine then it will not turn to move feed and pick up tire. ripped apart the adf to get to the spf motor and when the mis-feed occurs, the spf motor does not turn. also noticed when the motor does not turn i tried to turn by hand and it was very hard then it would turn a little then get hard to turn. last time i saw this it was a bad motor. tried the motor and still the same. also tried the spf pwb and scanner pwb. wentr old school and got my meter to check dc voltage and noticed all 6 wires had a dc voltage range of 23.05 to 24.37, during this reading i noticed i could not turn the motor. if i remove power from connector or turn of the copier the motor became free and spins easy, once i applied power, again the motor will not turn freely. checked my copier at the office in a full ready state and the motor turns easy. to the ? at hand, sharp does not give enough info on this. it sounds to me that a board has shorted and is applying voltage to all wires and locking the motor up.i am down to the mfp control pwb and the pcu pwb. has anyone seen this problem before. thanks

do you have try to swap ar-ef1 spf unit from your office and test it? possible the harness(linked from scu to cis unit) problem.

have not swapped adf's yet. i was checking my motor when copier is in a ready state and the gears turn freely. so i know something is sending voltages at the wrong time. wiring is as follows, spf motor to, spf pwb to, scanner pwb to, mfp controller pwb to, mother pwb to, pcu pwb. looked at wiring harness and found no shorts or pinched wires. sometimes the motor make a loud noise when it does not turn like it is being stopped from turning but it tries. going to pull my adf apart and check voltages in the ready state. thanks

Did you change your boards one at a time or all at once? I haven't had this problem before but I know on the series before this (the lovely Cougars) that if you swapped out adf boards you needed to do them in pairs or it could damage the new board (not sure it is true with this series). As mentioned above by lky, the harness had a lot of issues you might want to replace that and see what happens. We had to replace the harness on almost every copier in this series!!

        Good luck.

Like Iky and Bil, I've seen very strange issues caused by the harness. It's not about shorts or opens, it's about induced voltages (high current wires in the very close vicinity to low current wires). If you look at the replacement harness you'll see that the whole harness is made up of twisted pairs. Here's a good example of the wierdness:

Digital image breakup on 2nd side only of 2 to 2 duplex. Missing elements from first copy appear on next consecutive 2nd side (even with a different original). Broken up image is reduced by from 55% to 95% in feed direction only, crossfeed is always 100%. Defective DSPF harnass. Replace the DSPF harnass (DHAI-3166FC11).

Also make sure that the AR-EF1 is properly grounded to the engine. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
