Thinking of picking a couple of these up on service, are they a good box or not ?

They were galaxies better than the Bear & Apyllon predecessors. =^..^=If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: How good or bad are MX-4501N ?
Color not nearly as consistent or accurate as Konica Minolta technology. Not recommended if customer is printing dense, full color images - fuser jams, they run very dirty, toner is expensive and small yield (15K vs. bizhub C451 toners which are 27K - prices are nearly the same, in fact, we can buy the C451 toner for less). Canon & Ricoh boxes are also probably a bit better than Sharp. It is "Corporate Color" as others have said - so don't expect fabulous accuracy, gradations, and lack of pixelation on fine, half-toned images. For my money, Xerox and Konica Minolta stand atop the heap of manufacturers, with everybody else looking up at them.Comment
