Re: sharp arm207
The database is not at hand, but my first instinct is to look for drive problems before spending the bucks on a laser. Sure, it could be a laser, but drive problems are just as common, and can produce the blurring you describe. Got samples?
So I've got two database entries:
Blurs at 94mm intervals caused by drum grounding bars.
Blurs 23mm from the trail edge of legal paper, caused by unsuitable excessively heavy paper stock. =^..^=Last edited by blackcat4866; 09-14-2012, 01:12 AM.If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Re: sharp arm207
There is a lens in the laser unit on some of that series that will come loose and fall into the unit. I have been able to remove the unit and glue the lens back in place. If it is blurry throughout the entire copy, that would be my guess.Comment

Re: sharp arm207
I've had a dry scanner mirror assembly that would blurr the image at the same point on the original.
I lube the scan/mirror rails and so far the problem hasn't returned.Inauguration to the "AI cancel-culture" fraternity 1997...

Re: sharp arm207
Has the LSU been replaced? I had a new machine at set up that had a double image. It was caused by the last mirror in the LSU being installed backwards. The reflective surface was away from the LSU so the beam had to pass through the glass and refract before hitting the reflective surface and refract again as the beam went to the drum. Once the mirror was correctly positioned, copy quality was great (and for this machine that's a stretch).
In another case of a new setup, the copy was missing and blurry down a third of the page (in the paper feed direction). This was caused by missing LSU mounting screws on the front side and the LSU had bounced up on the locating pins during shipment."You can't trust your eyes, if your mind is out of focus" --Comment
