    MX-M450N printing problem

Used on a large network. Since Friday, several times a day the machine stalls. When you check job status at controll panel job number one will just be flashing "waiting" and of course all the jobs behind it are held up. It's like the print server is failing to give the final command to print or something?

Of course the overpaid IT guy, (why are all of these guys such big jerks by the way) swears it's the machine and is unwilling to even try anything. He even refuses to use the Sharp drivers so they use an HP driver. But it has performed that way for over a year.

There are no other issues with the machine. When it stalls they have to reboot the machine and then everything runs fine for an hour.

I keep trying to tell him that I think someone is sending bad files to the printer but all he wants to do is argue about it.

Help! This is a major account.

Check your ROM version, should be n3.03.J0. Have had some issues similar to this mostly due to the driver. Good luck trying to convince their IT person though. Check your job log listing and see what errors you have there and which user that you are having problems with, maybe you can track it down that way.

      Good luck.

I'm with Bil on this one. Set up your laptop with crossover and the correct driver. Print, print, print. If they aren't going to cooperate that's as far as you can go. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

If he will not even use the proper driver, I would find a creative way to tell him to get bent!

IT guys are dicks for one, simple reason. They are good with hardware, not with people.

Had the same problem it turned out to be firmware. Try updating it.

Another thing to try is clearing the job log.I had a arm455n that would lock up and once we cleared this it seemd to work better.

I had a similar problem like this too and what i did to fix it was setup a new tcp/ip port and used the LPR protocol with the name of lp also made sure the the LPR byte counting check box was unchecked. Also set the SNMP status with the community name of public and the SNMP Device Index to 1. good luck.

                    Re: MX-M450N printing problem

Am currently fighting this issue. Will print 2-3 jobs then job queue will still appear to have a job in it. Have to turn off then on to clear which also clears all the print history under the complete tab. Have tried new firmware, MFP Controller PWB and have been on the phone with Sharp several times. Ran all the SIM settings checking DIMMS, HDD etc. Had my IT guy come out and he checked with crossover cable and same problem so we are pretty sure it isn't the customer's network.

                      Three suggestions from me:
                      1. Clear the job log through the web interface
                      2. Make sure the machine's Cat5 connections isn't running through a power filer or 5 port switch or anything, if it is, remove it.
                      3. Make sure the firmware is current. They released a special update to address the "spooling" problem and it seemed to help.

Just a shot in the dark but try to disable (uncheck) the SNMP port by going into the printer driver port configuration. This worked in a windows vista environment. Just wondering are you using RAW or LPR?
