On the Lcd copier boots up and sharp logo appears with stars and symbols floating around it, then copier shuts down and boots up again with same results and never coming out of this stage. Intermittent problem, have seen this before but resolves itself but not this time. Hard drive or maybe ic 22? anyone seen and corrected this?

Typically about three seconds into the stars rotating the screen freezes, then nothing else. I've replace three or four hard drives for these symptoms.
It's just intuition, but I think I'd change the Boot ROM first. It's also less expensive than the hard drive. If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

ZOOTECH, regarding ar337 logo and stars
Hey thanks for the reply, I have had the DC power supply problem b-4 but not with logo and stars staying on and never warming up. just cutting off and yes replacicing the dcps did correct it. my unit keeps rebooting and logo comes up and stars just keep floating around the logo and all the sudden it reboots and again logo and stars and never warming up any other ideas?Comment

You can test for a HDD trouble by unplugging the data cable to the HDD and powering up. If you get through the rotating stars, you should get an E7 code (not sure what sub code), indicating a problem with the HDD.
But you should still check the DCPS, I've seen several different symptoms with cold solder joints.
Blackcat is right, most of the times, it will be the HDD."You can't trust your eyes, if your mind is out of focus" --Comment

ZOOTECH, DEGUY again
hey thanks again. I have had this problem b4 and did do the hdd but the problem was intermittent and very low user, this account on the other hand is up for contract renewal on 9 machines with the idea of " if you cannot fix this NOW then we may search other service providers, this is why I am looking into every angle possible and I thank you again. would you mind if I add you to the buddy list for future info? Thanks, DavidComment

No problem with the buddy list; I'll help when I can and when I can't, I won't. There are many here who can help with more experience than me.
Are all the machines up for renewal in the Cougar 2000 series (7 plus years old)? If so, it might be time to suggest getting upgrades to the new Jupiter 2 and Dragon 2 machines; we've had very few problems with these so far(much less than when the Cougars first came out).
Yeah, it's a tough spot to be in if the customer doesn't have confidence with your abilities. Good Luck..."You can't trust your eyes, if your mind is out of focus" --Comment
