    Skewing on Ar-m351

    Afternoon all,
I'm looking for some help on this machine.
it skew the copy up to 10mm but it varies a little from all cassettes and paper deck , So far i've replaced the sync assy, the black panel on the inside of the left hand door, the Transfer ass, and the image process unit, The machine has 300k on it we have lot of these machines and have notice several of them starting to do this, The machines are approx 3 years old and most have 300-500k copies on them.

Any ideas would be appreciated as i'm running out of ideas

Wow! You're going to like this one. If it appears on self prints you can obviously rule out the optical things. There are (10) different things to check:

Skew Tip #1: Skews letter size paper from tray #1 only. Especially labels. Tray #1 paper side guides have 1+ mm gap or more to the copy paper cumulatively. Rear tray guide may be broken. Adjust the tray #1 side guides to < 0.25mm clearance to the paper and screw down both front and rear guides to minimize paper skew.

Skew Tip #2: Skews letter size paper 12 mm across the leading edge, from any tray, intermittently (2 of 20). All skewed pages have a crescent shaped wrinkle toward the copier front. Wavy copies. Post-registration paper skew. Warped pre-transfer guide (650k). Temporarily remove the pre-transfer guide ground spring. Replace the pre-transfer guide.

Skew Tip #3: Skews all paper sizes 1 to 3 mm across the trailing edge. Paper skew at the registration assembly. Worn transfer gear causes developer dumping into the registration rollers. Replace the transfer gear, drum, & blade. Clean developer from the registration assembly.

Skew Tip #4: Skews all paper sizes from a specific tray, 1 to 3 mm across the leading edge, consistently. Line blurr crossfeed, 30mm from the trail edge. Inadequate buckle at the registration roller. Use simulation 51-2 to adjust the buckle for each tray individually. Adjust buckle up until a Z-fold appears 30mm from the leading edge, then back it off 5 increments. Tray #1=85, all others=65.

Skew Tip #5: Skews all paper sizes 1 to 3 mm across the leading edge. The scanner is deformed by leaning on it. Adjust the image squareness at the adjuster under the front left corner of the scanner. If there is not enough adjustment, reform the right scanner support arm upward, tighten screws, then adjust again.

Skew Tip #6: Skews all paper sizes 1 to 3 mm across the leading edge. Laser is slightly mis-aligned. Adjust the image squareness as viewed in self print 64-1 pattern 83 at the laser slotted screw. Also adjust print off-center 50-10, original off-center 50-12, registration & lead edge void 50-1 & 50-6.

Skew Tip #7: Skews all paper sizes 1 to 5 mm across the leading edge intermittently. The transfer roller is worn, larger at center smaller at the ends. Replace the transfer roller.

Skew Tip #8: Skews letter size paper from tray #1 only. A paper scrap remains in the vertical pinch rollers toward the front of the paper path. Remove any paper from the vertical path.

Skew Tip #9: Skews letter size paper from tray #1 only. Worn part in the registration assembly. Replace the registration assembly.

Skew Tip #10: Skews letter size paper from tray #1 only. Also flips front corner of the leading edge. The customer has removed the paper guide in front of the feed tire assembly in tray #1. Replace the paper guide (PCOVP1543FCZZ).

As you can tell these machines are well known for skewing, especially paper skewing from tray #1. I really can't give odds on this one. All these situations are extremely common. Usually two or three at the same time, which it makes it hard to diagnose. Please let me know what you find.
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.
