[Misc] Sharp MX-M350N Can't install on network

Just got an off lease machine for a customer and went to installed it and went to install it on the network but will not work.

    Things that i checked:

-link lights are on both the MFP and Router.
    -Doubled checked cable
-pluged in a pc to the same cable pc works fine
    -reset nic card
-will not auto assign IP with DHCP
-Tired manually setting up IP still no good
    -cant not ping destination unreachable
    -cant logon to devices webpage
    -powered off a million times
-made sure Subnet same and GW the same
-sim 67-16 to check nic said OK
-messed with security tab under admin settings no help

ANY IDEAS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

Have you tried connecting to the laptop via crossover to eliminate network affects? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

I agree with blackcat. I recently had an issue like yours. Destination host unreachable when pinging.

Crossover cable from laptop, it worked.

I then tested the cable, tested ok. I created a new cable at same length, copier worked fine. My scenario was that they did run a sheilded CAT5e cable, but as far as I could see, it was running parallel with multiple electrical wires for quite a distance.

CAT5e sheilded works, but only can sheild so much interference.

      Hopefully, this gives you ideas.

You haven't mentioned anything about the clients network? How is that set up? Maybe there are some restrictions or conditions that are not allowing you to access it? Did you add a new cable or use an existing cable or port? Have had customer say wall port is good but really it's not setup properly.

        Good luck.

If you are able to connect to the laptop via crossover, the next thing to do is to connect your laptop to the existing network cable. See if DHCP assigns a valid IP address, and see if you can ping back to the server.

I've seen situations where a continuous ping gives a "failed" response every 15 attempts. It's comical to listen to the IT staff blame the MFP when the MFP is not even connected at that moment. My response is "What copier? The cable is not connected to the copier. It's connected to my laptop." =^..^=

OK im at the customers now. i currently have my laptop connected to the network with the same network cable as the MFP. i also tried to use a crossover cable to connect to the mfp with no luck. so i assume the nic card is shot unless anyone else has any other ideas.

If you have assigned both your laptop and copier static IPs on the same subnet and range, and they still cannot connect. Check with another cross-over cable. If still not working then the NIC may be damaged.

out of desperation i preformed a 66-10 to clear image memory. I can now ping and access the MFP but now when trying to print i get several pages that look like a hex dump. i tried to redownload then print drive to make sure my driver was no corrupt no change still printing hex dump data.

Wow! Sounds like a fun one. I would definitely update the firmware. If that doesn't help replace the nic.
As far as the drivers go, make sure you're using a PCL driver. If it has the Post Script option, you could try the PS driver as an alternate.
                  Good luck.

The MFP doesn't have the post script option installed. does anyone know if a nic from an older AR-M280 or AR-M350 will work in the MX-M350 for testing purposes and/or permanent fix?

Should work, check to make sure it is the ARNC5 (I believe). Can't remember ever using an older one like that but sure that we have at one time or another. We just throw them into a box and pull one out when we need to check nics. If you have an ARM550 series parts machine you can use that nic as well.

                      Good luck.

I have it figured out. After doing the 66-10 i was able to get the machine on the network. To get rid of the hexadecimal dump all i had to do is logon as the admin and go to the printer interface settings and uncheck the box that said hexadecimal dump mode. i have no clue why this was even checkmarked in the first place. Thanks for all of your suggestions.

                          Good catch!
