    MX7040

Can anyone please give me a bit of information that I have been asked if I can get on here.
A customer wants to buy Sharp MX7040's and wants to know what the back-to-back registration is.
    Thanks in advance

Unusual request, must be looking to print money?
Have checked with Sharp, there are no official figures available, however on such a high speed sub 50k machine you are probably looking at 1mm deviation, but that is also dependent on the quality of paper the customer is using.
If he is that fussy, the customer needs to spend more money.
    Happy days

I had a sales rep sell one of these to a print shop. If they are going to be doing any cutting on bled images that they wanted backed up, run away as fast as you can. You can line it up fairly well on 20-30 bond paper but, when they start running 12x18 100lb index well ya. So, I would say find out their intent with duplex registration before you give an answer.

This machine will not "cut the mustard". Ever since Sharp went to the fuser belt system, lining up back to back has become damn near impossible.

Not disputing the fact just curious why the fuser belt system would effect back to back registration......

The belts tend to shift a lot. I believe this is the model with the "meandering adjustment" for the fuser.

The toner is put on the paper by the transfer belts. Once its there static holds it in place till the "fuser" fuses it. All the timing and registation is done by the drums, motors, and tranfer units. the only thing the fuser could do to effect the image would be to smear the toner changing the color not registration. Just sayin.
