[CQ] Sharp MX3110 random white voids

I got a call for voids/washed out area of BW prints late in the day Monday. I went out first thing Tuesday morning, but couldn't duplicate it. Saw customer's samples and out of 40 pages, 20-25 had the void on it. Cleaned main chargers, laser windows, pulled drums, developer and visually everything is good... Client called Wednesday, same issue. Ran solid fills 1 at a time, each color- nothing. Ran 5 black solid fills- 2/5 had void (attached samples to post). Pulled Drum (drum, gridplate, charge all are good), Developer (no clumps in powder, mag roller has even coating), Primary Transfer belt (no marks, labels or anything on belt). Reassembled, ran 70 more black solid fills, 10 at a time and couldn't duplicate defect again.

I can't find what is causing this- and it goes away too quickly for me to troubleshoot.

Is the void always in the exact same spot like your samples?

      Good luck.

It is always about the same distance from the lead edge as the samples, but it has been as far as 2 inches to the left as the samples and sometimes a little longer of a void.

I've seen a Canon pull similar stuns with the mag roller not picking up dev on a specific spot. Took a bit of motion with the finger to fill the void, didn't come back.

I would have to side with the above posters though, check transfer belt.

I've seen chunks of stuff floating around in the dv unit that will put random voids on the page and then move to a different spot.
I know I should be ashamed of myself. Strangely though, I am not.

Check for gunk under the primary and secondary belts.

I am having the same issue only the voids are much bigger. I have replaced the primary transfer unit completely. I rebuilt the black drum and secondary transfer units. There is a good brush on the DV roller. ANY Ideas?

seeing how the last post to this thread was in 2013..

you need to start a new thread of your own.

some here will call you a 'grave robber' for digginG up such an old thread.. and I totally agree with them.
