not allowing them to print the job. if they then print using the batch print then they can print. if the reboot the machine it will work again but will gray out again later. i updated firmware and formatted hdd but the problem still persist. This is an intermitten issue and is starting to annoy customer. any help is greatly appreciated. thanks in advance.

Are they using job retention settings in the print driver?

Does the machine have a data security kit on it?

We had the same issue on a 6240 but also if we went from document filing to copy or scan the buttons were greyed out, we set the default home screen to document filing as that was what they used the most, changed refresh to 10 seconds and let it reset and the buttons became available.

Issue has been raised with Sharp in the UK and they are looking into it, spent hours looking at it the other week.

We had the issue with the machine having a DSK on it so presumed it was to do with that, will be watching this topic and see what comes of it.

When printing to a Document Filing folder, set the job to Hold Only in the Job Handling tab
of the driver. A user name should be entered into the Default Job ID field.

Jobs that do not have anything in the Default Job ID field will use the user name of the
person logged into the computer as the De
fault Job ID when on a domain. Otherwise
something must be entered to identify the user.

If jobs were scanned into Document Filing, the
same user name that is used at the computer
should be used in order to print all of the user

scanning into Document Filing, then have the
user press the Default User button and then
select Admin or User to print the scanned in jobs.

Failing to plan is planning to fail!!!
