    [Jamming] Sharp Ar-M355

I have a problem with Duplex jamming ... the paper partially exits the top, goes back in but will skew and or jam, running in to a piece of paper thats exiting the fuser ?? if I remove the Stapler/Compiler unit ... it duplexes just fine. I originally thought that the exit unit and the one-way clutches in the drive unit were to blame ( Dissasembled, Cleaned, Regreased, etc. fixed two this way) on these models they have an extra piece of plastic on the exit photosensor flag - if I put it on it jams more often ?? ~~ could this be a timing issue ??, is it adjustable ??

    Thanks, Mike

Does it have the FN6 or FN7 finisher? If it has the FN6 that plastic piece on the exit sensor has to be removed. Also, if it is the FN6, there could be paper cuts in the relay unit or broken plastic parts caused by age or heat.

If it has the FN6 we have had many were the interface lower paper guide would crack(in several pieces) due to heat degradation. It is item 19 in the interface unit section (2) of FN6 parts guide. Pull the finisher if lower guide is brown replace.

          What jam code? =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
          1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
          2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
          3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
          4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
          5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

Sorry didn't think to write down the codes, and I know better ... I have the factory manual. I believe it's the FN7 but if I take it off it duplexes well ???, the copy partially exits and its when it goes back in that it jams, but now that I think of it it could be the inverter assembly on the left side of the machine that's causing it .... But why would it run OK when I remove the Stapler/Finisher, would it not still use the inverter unit on the left ???

Verify you have the new style transport followers PN# PCLR-0460FCZ1. The old style follower has a bronze bushing that over time binds up on the shafts. The new one is all plastic. Use alcohol and scothbrite to clean the shafts then reassemble. It should be fine until they eventually break down from the heat.

FN6 is on the right side of the machine. FN7 is on the left side. FN7 can drag left side door down if the FN7 isn't leveled properly. Paper trying to go to duplexor or FN7 hits the exit gate. I had one that was moved tempoarily for room renovations. Uneven floor caused a problem like you describe. When I held the top of the left side door in towards the machine body, it would duplex fine. By removing the FN7, you are getting rid of that drag down- if that is the finisher this machine has. Might be worth checking and easier to fix than some of the other possibilities.

If it's an FN7, and jam POD1N, then the deliver/turnover unit is a good bet. =^..^=
