Got an MX-M463N that runs a line from the front to rear frame of the machine about 1/2 inch from the lead edge. It does it printing and copying. We are using strictly Sharp OEM supplies and drum. The line does show up on the photoconductor. We have replaced the process unit, the developer unit, the transfer unit, and the main drive unit. We also took a right door assembly from another machine and tried it. Originally we swapped units from another machine, and temporarily had both machines doing it, but our donor eventually cleared up. We've run an image memory clear, and swapped out the memory. We actually tried backing up the firmware to a previous version. The first copy comes out clean, but then it becomes hit or miss (more often "hit") on the line. There's even more entertainment, though.....when we first brought the machine in the problem occurred from every feed station on any size paper except the bypass..............now, after all our meddling, the problem appears to be limited to 8 1/2 x 11 portrait from any paper tray except the bypass. Can't think of anything else I might need to try, so I'm sitting here with that "numb" look hoping someone has seen this and can give me a new direction.

Re: MX-M463N with line front to rear frame
If the line is a nice and clear, and edge to edge I would say the lsu, maybe its an lsu test sweep, like if a color mchine has its lsu shutters stuck open.Where the heck is my spring hook?Comment

Re: MX-M463N with line front to rear frame
The line isn't very "sharp".....it is at the same place every time....about 1/2" from the lead edge. After talking to Sharp yesterday, I started turning off things in 44-01..........turns out with HV off (high density control) the line vanishes. Just odd that the problem temporarily moved to our other machine....must've zapped the drum something fierce. Actually have the Sharp rep coming by to help today. Hopefully will get some resolution to this, but best guess at this point is something with the high voltage board even though all the settings seem to be in a normal range (don't have the cute little sticker on mine telling what they were set at from the factory)Comment
