    MX-5001 "cleaning transfer belt"

This message appears about every other page printed. Sometimes it stops printing all together and the customer has to remove the paper that is in process. The 22-6 is not registering any errors or jams. The TK1 is at 108K and the TK2 is at 257K. Thanks for any tips.

    Re: MX-5001 "cleaning transfer belt"

    From Sharp Search:

"Cleaning Transfer Belt" every 2 or 3 prints/copies made

The possible cause is that the paper is too smooth and slips when it is transferred. Ensure that shiny or super smooth paper is fed via the manual feed tray using appropriate settings.

    The mechanism of this problem:
    1. The paper is delivered to the resist roller after paper feed, but it slips a little at each transfer roller.
    2. The timing to transfer is delayed because the paper slips.
    3. Because the transferring timing is delayed, the paper stops at the resist roller.
    4. The toner on the transfer belt is not transferred because the paper is delayed, and the cleaning of the transfer belt starts.

The timing of the paper and transfer is reset after the cleaning operation of the transfer belt, so we consider there is no problem with the first page, but it deviates from the transfer timing after 2 - 3 transport, and the cleaning operation of the transfer belt starts.

Remove the paper dust collector and clean it. The thoroughly clean the ps roller. I prefer WD-40 as it seems to not only clean the rubber but penetrates it and makes is tackier. This will help to eliminate slippage .Then re-install paper dust collector!

        Thanks ruben,
Maybe your UK Sharp search is better than our USA. I am on Sharp's web-site now and can't get any results from the search. If I search bulletins I can find 5 or so that relate to transfer but nothing that mentions this. The customer IS using shiny paper but their question will no doubt be "why haven't we had this problem before?".

I like WD-40 as well. I assume that the roller you mean is the registration roller. That's the roller the paper dust collector cleans.

Yes,I am referring to the registration roller! I just call it the PS roller cause its in the PS assy and Sharp refers to it as the PS roller. Every other Manufacturer calls it a registration roller. LOL! Also use canned air to clean the sensor as well.

PS Assy = Paper Stop Assy

AFAIK Sharp is the only manufacturer that doesn't translate this as Registration Assy. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
                1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
                2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
                3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
                4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
                5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

If all else fails go to simulation 51-2 and find the source and paper type the paper tray is set for.

You can increase the value for that source to increase the buckle in the paper at the registration roller.

This will make the machine more foregiving for an slipping of the rollers.

Check the primary transfer drive gear for cracks.

Not sure if you fixed your issues but make sure the primary cleaning unit has no obstructions , or bound I have seen that cause what you're describing as well

We are seeing this too for the first time, my question is how does the machine know the 2nd transf?\er belt has the left over toner on it as opposed to normal operation there is no sensor looking at the 2nd trans belt.or is the primary belt sensors picking it up? I believe we are experiencing it from all trays. I did not think about slipping reg being the problem

its caused by the paper exit roller drive clutch on the mxlc11 - diagnosed by another engineer.

We have one that does this only from the bypass unit. We have replaced the bypass unit, right side door, and the pf drive unit plus the ps unit and it still does it from the bypass only what next??
