    Authority to Print

hello guys I have been to a client recently to setup authentication for printing and copying, but I am having a very strange problem on both MX-2610N and MX2640N, when I enable the MFP to authenticate I get this msg:

"the Job was canceled as you do not have the authority To print in the specified color mode". ##

I am logged in as admin I even tried putting the MFP back to factory default with no luck, the strange thing is if I disable authentication it will print in color.

Can you guys point me in the right direction Please?

    Re: Authority to Print

I guess that you've already figured out that the user that you're logged in under has limited rights: i.e. no color printing. When you set up the user login you'll need to specify that the user has rights to print in color. There are dozens of those little check boxes to read through. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
    1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
    2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
    3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
    4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
    5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

hey thanks Blackcat that was already done, but I will take a look again to make sure I did not overlook anything,So basically you're saying that when setting up the MFP i need to give authority to send color Prints to the Sharp Printer?

By default users inherit their colour authority from User, on some models this User does not have colour printing access. If you create a new authority group which is a copy of User, then set colour printing to allowed, you can change the users authority from the User Control list.

Thats right. But dont forget the authentification in driver. If You dont have send the Passes by printjob , the colorprint is been canceled . The bw Print Works fine.

              Re: Authority to Print

If you are sending print jobs over, as stated above, you need to include the user number in the Job Handling tab of Printing Preferences. If you do not, one of two things will happen based on "Disabling of Printing by Invalid User" in User Control->Default Settings:

              1. CHECKED: Copier will drop the print job, since there is no user code with the print job.

              2. UNCHECKED: Without a user code, the copier will now use the privileges assigned to the built-in Other User account and print the job based on its authority group settings. By default, the Other User is assigned to the Guest authority group, which will have black and white printing privileges, but not color privileges. This means you can print in B&W without a code, but color jobs will be dropped.

If you want to be able to print color without a code, you can change the Authority Group of the Other User to the User authority group (which usually has color rights) or to a custom Authority Group that you create.
