    Sharp MX-B402SC information

Are these mfps any good we have a customer who has 4 of these and wants us to take over the service. They have an average of about 39000 clicks on each unit. Customer has called for service a couple of times and cant recall why and there are no service sheets with machines. There all working right now no issues. Thanks

They've got lot's of these in the field. The developer and drums are stable, and achieve yield most every time. The fuser problems have been resolved with the new style fusers. The document feeders are unimpressive. Like a lot of Sharp document feeders, all the rollers need to be cleaned with orange-sol on a regular basis, and it's not just the easy-to-get-to rollers. Full removal of the DF feed assembly is required to do a good roller cleaning. Overall a good little color box. =^..^=
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
        1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
        2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
        3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
        4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
        5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

MX-B402SC is a mono box. Easily confused with the MX-C402SC as they both look almost identical save for the logo. The new doc feeders, while looking a whole lot weirder than the standard Sharp DF, function fairly well.

Only problem I've had with their doc feed so far was a customer knocking SPPD3 sensor out of place causing jams, otherwise it's exactly as Blackcat stated, keep up the maintenance parts and you're golden.

Not an error message I'm familiar with, nor is it listed in the service manual. I'm gonna go with the thought that there may be some firmware corruption, or an incorrect version (C402SC vs B402SC for example). May require emergency firmware flash or new ROM chips - find out if they have a data security kit.

Good old air-tight scan unit that still somehow gets dust and condensation build up...

For a plastic frame machine they are way better than a c311 or a b401. I agree a dirty enviroment will give troubles with any model with this build style. And for such a small machine the fuser is a sob, the pri transfer isnt that bad to rebuild, and cru drum and dv units are a nice touch, for a rebuilder. I recommend whole fuser units for time to rebuild sake, unless you have a trusted person to rebuild them in the shop. The heat lamp wire coating cracks and splits easily, the best life for a rebuilt fuser is maybe 3 cycles, but thats pusing the plastic coating on all the wires. Plus with a katun acct, core credit 5 bucks for every drum cart return. I use oem, but return for katun credit. As for the version code, you may have a corrupted rom or the print contlroller mave have been dip switch set to emergency update.

If it were in the emergency update procedure, it would explicitly be stating so, and the screen would be mostly white. I agree with everything else you said.

I have had what your are describing displayed when the HDD is going bad on these models. Could be as simple as re-flashing the firmware though.
