    Turn down their exposure.

When you replaced transfer, did you just replace the roller or the whole unit?

When you replaced the drum did your replace the charge unit? Have had the charge units cause this problem on several occassions.

        Good luck.

I have seen this and replacing the whole transfer assy. was the only thing that would work.

It was actually one of your past posts I was paraphrasing when I offered up the suggestion to OP. I personally haven't seen any difference between replacing the roller or the entire unit, the roller seems to do fine at least. Only time I've changed the whole unit is when I've broken the frame.

Yeah, I agree though I have had a few times where I had background and doing the usual as in developer, drum, charge corona and transfer roller kit. Still had background, I then changed the whole assy and background was gone. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me as to why it helped but it did. As for the breaking the frame that has happened more times than I care to remember.

Last I did it, it was a great training lesson for the new tech. "Okay, here's what not to do."

Ah yes good old plastic. Nothin a good wrap of electrical tape won't hold in place until you get a replacement unit.

Depends on what gets broken. In the case of these ones, it's usually the tiny plastic tab that holds the transfer roller in place, mounted right in the side, in a section that looks something like this [

Good luck taping that up... There are some things that just can't be taped. Epoxy might work if you could apply it on a small space roughly the size of a pin head.

I have seen generic toner cause grey background. Install new toner, try name brand, different lot of toner or different generic toner. I then placed a sheet of paper on lead edge of glass and then ran 50 sky shots and problem cleared itself. Sometimes you need to do a DV change, but sometimes you can get away without the DV.

hey Akitu you just wrap tape around the entire ass'y where the black piece that holds the spring is- shut the right side cover and get out A.S.A.P. Done it several times when far from shop to get by until I get a replacement.

After replacing Drum/DV and before running calibration, make sure process sensor in the transfert unit is clean. Location of the sensor is not very obvious.

And I hope you ran 25-2 without the toner cartridge installed.

is it a solid/full page background or just a band a few inch wide of grey backgrond/shading.

havent seen one with full background but have came across one with a background band down the page lead-trail.

turned out a couple of the leds on the scan lamp were out causing the issue when it scanned the original
