    Aries2 (MX3640N) just placed

Machine brought into shop because it is stuck in "Please Wait" mode as the most obvious symptom. The machine does have the DSK.
The blue home key does not light up; the soft power switch on keyboard brings up the display, but will not power off the machine.
The sleep mode button doesn't work either, nor does the touch panel. The pull out keyboard has no response, but I can't be sure if it's working or not,
because there is no place to make an entry. Tried re-flashing firmware with DSK and EMUPDATE with no help (touchpad has no response).
Because the home key doesn't light up or work, I can't access diags.
I was leaning towards ordering the SCN control board, but the keyboard goes directly to the LSU Mother board (but I don't know if kbd is bad or not).
Hoping for additional troubleshooting help or suggestion which board I should order...thanks in advance.
Edit: the keyboard is giving the green LEDs when Caps and Num lock keys are pressed.

I have a 2640 doing the exact same thing. Home key doesn't light, complete lock up. I had it in the shop for a month, sent it back and locked up on site again. I pulled it and have had it ever since without a lockup thus far. I have reformatted the HDD and pondering SD and CF as a set. The only difference is mine does not have the DSK. Please keep me "in the loop" if you would.

Have you tried force calibrating the op panel with the MFP dip switch?

Don't be fooled by the picture, it is the tiniest dip I have ever seen but it should at least unlock the op panel.

Funny thing... I was just reading the firmware notes for this model that came out 1/29 and one of the fixes was for "please wait" message and lock up...but it's not DSK firmware.

Tried the forced calibration (right mini switch) first thing - display goes to Home screen, but touch pad is not responsive.
Left mini switch at least gave me TC24, but touch screen not responsive.
Tried removing DSK ROM and different switch positions and always display would go to CN update mode with "Please wait" (for 20 mins.).
Unfortunately, the machine is out of warranty, hence the request for additional help.
At this point I'm going to order the SCN control pwb. (see OP edit).
      I will update when fixed.

Zootech - I just got the Service, Circuit diagram and the Parts manual for this copier. If you send me an email and tell me who you are, I'll send it to you at no charge.

Have you tried reseating or replacing memory dimms?

i have had the memory dimms fail on several Sharp devices and do you use www.tradenetsharp.co.uk,we don't have that model in the UK but do have Aries range.

Check leds on mfp pwb (page 7-35) that shows boot sequence and also boot errors. Is the sd boot switch on mfp pwb in off position with dsk chip installed and or set to on with dsk chip removed. Also had similar problem and it was power supply , machine had fax kit on back and strapped to tight for delivery, back panel was pushed into dc power supply and shorted a filter coil, which caused low voltages to boards and not complete boot process.
also if write lock switch on sd card is set causes boot problems according to tech support.

The leds seem to boot proper -- SD boot switch is correct in the off position when ROM installed. It does have the fax option and may have cause the DCPS to fail during delivery.
Two signals from the PS at CN106 pins 6 and 7 look low (1.25 and 2.15) - the brown wires for nRY_CNT and nOFF_CNT. I was just about to call tech support when I checked here,
I'm going to verify those signals should be closer to 0v and 5v. Thanks for the heads up.

Damn the bad luck, tech support is not available due to in-climate weather at this time.

Found pin 1 of CN104 on DCPS which should be 5v is at .15v; this wire goes to the LSU mother board at the same connector as nRY and nOFF.
So, after ordering a SCN pwb, the posibilities now include the DCPS and the LSU mother pwb.

Either Dc supply has failed or something is bringing down the 5 volts. Did machine work at all at customer location? unplug cn 104 and 106 from DC supply , does 5v come back up, disconnect other cn from dc supply and other boards to see if you get any change in dc supply voltage or copier operation. I'm in MA and we got about 12 inches of snow, think NJ was supposed to get more
