Thanks for the help. Indeed, sharpdesk is not needed as the mfp is capable of scan to email, network folder, ftp etc right out the shoot. Updates/upgrades (not sure which, IT fled the scene) were performed to the workstation in question. However, when the customer has been utilizing sharpdesk for several years it seems like a cop out to say "I can't fix it, so use this (scan to network folder) instead." But, that is what I did and im none too happy about it. That sharpdesk has not seen the last of me.

Reason: spelling
As Faxman said, if they're not using OCR they don't need Sharpdesk. The copier itself is capable of doing everything Sharpdesk is, but without the awful software interface.
Log into the copier's web page via the IP address and do a proper setup of their network to get their emails and folder scans working. If they're concerned about the security of what they're scanning then don't bother with the desktop/folder scanning and just let them do email.
Well, no luck to this point in getting Sharpdesk back up. I enabled Netbios per idnc, enabled snmp which allowed the profile to update to the scanner and I verified port 4687 is open through nslookup. Also, reinstalled Sharpdesk after all these changes to no avail. By this point the customer was visibly growing impatient as she needed to get back to work. So, I set up scanning to a network folder on her computer and got out of her way. I know I should have looked at firewalls or av software and hopefully I get another chance in the future to make it work. Sharpdesk 1. Me 0. dammit.....
server not found error is usually ip address of pc is not correct or firewall blocking port 4687 which is used to send file from copier to pc via ftp.
normally you can't enter the profile manually into the mfp address book has NST uses a proprietary path, example: uri:scan/nst@@f=Custpmer Service-001@h=001372883cba. In the address book there is a list of your profiles, on that page it should have the ip addresses or host names of the pc's (column with the heading of scanners. make sure the ip or host name is correct for that button/profile. if it is then it is probably being blocked by the firewall.
Yesterday, I noticed that snmp was turned off and didn't know that could affect performance. After the profile update locked up I can manually input the profile and it looks good in the address book on the MX-B402. However, the error 'selected servers not found is same result'. Could it be possible that I have two issues?
The failure to update the profile and the scanning issue itself?
Thanks for the ideas. I'm hoping to get back there today.
I'd also check to see what type of network profile the computer has. If it is "Public", it increases the PC's security settings and can make things difficult. Make sure the network type is "Private", "Work", or "Domain".
Make sure the Destination uses the PC's IP address instead of host name.
After that, temporarily disable any and all firewalls on the PC to see if it gets through.
Once you get it going, you can change the things back and see which one is causing the issue.
Check your firewall to see if it is allowing network scanner tool thru, from what I understand NST uses FTP through port 4687 to send the file from mfp to pc and snmp is used by NST to update profiles and ip addresses to the mfp. also get the latest ver of sharpdesk from idnc.
What machine are you trying to hook up to? We have an MX2610 that is doing very similar problems in our office. I just set up the copier to act as a network folder and discontinued Sharpdesk for the time being. Very annoying as it worked for quite a long time but after installing new software from Frontier Secure on our Win7 x64 it hasn't worked since.
Today I was working in a customers office that had three computers with sharpdesk issues. Their IT was able to resolve one computer on their own and I was able to resolve one as well. By reinstalling sharpdesk I resolved the second computer. The third computer a Win7 64bit however continues to fail and give the 'selected servers could not be found' error. I tried deleting and updating the profile to no avail. After reinstalling sharpdesk 3.3 and adding the b402 as a scanner the profile began to update. At this point the process locks up with the progress bar inactive. Once I click on the 'Stop' button within the dialogue box it tells me that the profile update did not happen. When I try to back out of this profile update I get errors and the install is dead in the water. Manually installing the profile goes nowhere as where.
